Hello,
First of all, thanks a lot for this knowledge base and all who contributed.
Looking who will answer this. Usually those are the top driven guys who know answers to most questions
Am here because I'll maintain the T6 myself. Well thats my itent for most of it - have to be wise of course. I fairly know my way around cars, motorbikes, wind turbines, marine vessels, electrical grids and some other stuff. T6 is for sure a new book to open.
My T6 has 55.800km - from Germany 07/2019 (am Belgian) and has a 2.0HDI with 114Bhp. Thats the EA288 engine I believe. Testrun today was good, smooth ride, good compression / strong and consistent in the RPM range and no strange noises, vibrations or smells. Is always used by a company (leasing - has work benches in the cargo) but is always maintained by Volkswagen (most chance thats a good thing). Was amazed to read the service overview, quite extensive. Comes with a year 'Used Car' guarantee. Oil level was nearly on the limit with last oil service (I forgot already) but think it was around 42.000 km. At the time I was pleased with the numbers ....
I asked for a copy of the service history - still waiting
As always, am mostly worried about an engine. We know how it goes. I turned down Vito (3 recals on the OM654 for timing chain issues) and Transit (recal for deteriorated timing belts). Plus, PSA was no option - same for Renault. Could not live with myself if I did.
Comes already a question: should I already plan to replace the timing belt (6 years old) or wait until 120.000km as is a fairly normal frame. Are their any maintenance items, things I should know as a new owner and anticipate before using the T6?
Again, many thanks and looking forward to learning and ownership.
