So...have now got the van. I like it, I really do...BUT...it's just going to be so hard getting used to it being so different from the caravan.

We excitedly opened it all up on Sunday to get our stuff in it ready for the first trip away (hopefully next weekend)...after several hours of moving stuff around, we both sat on the steps and had a cry. It just all feels like such an anti-climax...and the most difficult bloody jigsaw puzzle getting stuff in.

Phoebe managed to get her excitement back when we went and bought her a sleeping bag...she's now desperate to get away...it's taking a bit longer to get mine back.

I don't even feel like taking any pictures to show it off...moan moan moan...

Give it time, I'm sure it'll grow on you. Get along to one of our forum camps and you'll start to feel it. There is so much more you can do with a van than a caravan.

I love the van...I love driving it...and there's loads of living space, I put the bed up and bedding on and it seems comfy enough and everything works.

Think I'm just feeling a bit 'alone'...not used to having to do stuff on my own.

Anyway...we're off for the weekend somewhere local and then giving Cornwall a go in a few weeks time.

Think you hit the nail on the head there. Starting out on a new adventure in life after being used to a caravan and someone to tow it. I must admit there is a big difference between a van and caravan it's just a matter of working out what you need to take, you will soon get the hang of it and you will always have your hubby in your hrart as you drive along and I'm sure he is watching you and smiling :)

I can relate to that, we just sold our beloved bay window camper, it was such a lovely thing to drive and use as a camper. It got attention everywhere, people waved, chatted some French campsites even gave us free bottles of wine because it brightened their day. Now we have the T6, we have tried our best to get that bright airy feel to it but it still feels dark and gloomy inside by comparison, it's missing that friendly feel the bay had. What we need are a few good memories and happy times to make it ours like the bay was, I don't think we'll ever love it like we did the bay but like all things in life, it's what you make of it that counts, the rest will come. So fear not, campervans are great things, go and have a weekend away and have some fun, I'm sure you'll be smiling in no time

It'll take time, you will make new memories with the new Campervan, and hopefully they will be up there with your memory's of the caravanning trips with your husband.

Campervans are a little puzzle when packing, not as roomy as a caravan, but easier once you work out what you do need and what's a luxury.

Keep strong and Phoebe will love and remember the upcoming adventures

Must be hard; sometimes we buy things thinking they'll help; they can do at times but often need perseverance.

I think you'll get into it with time; took us a while to get the hang of it but we manage 5 weeks with four of us in the Cali and love it.

Plenty of compromises, a fair bit of work and planning but the rewards are huge.

The first time you park up at a stunning site and make that first tea or open that first bottle of wine (or beer) knowing there's no way you could have got a caravan there, you'll be hooked.
