MFSW buttons not working 2011 T5GP Help

I have bought and fitted This:


VW GOLF MK6 GTD 2009-2012 FLAT BOTTOM STEERING WHEEL with Paddles to my:


2011 vw T5GP 7speed DSG shuttle.


Fitted the 2 wires from clock spring 9 and 10


Pin 9 on clock spring to an ignition live, To pin 15 on the light switch This works the illumination on the steering wheel and comes on with the auto-lights.

Pin 10 on clock spring to pin 17 of the white 73pin plug on the body control module ,
this already has a wire in that position as its the Lin bus, Lilac and white wire I have soldered this connection.


My problem: No buttons work,


What does work: DSG paddles and horn work fine,


All the buttons illuminate,




Can anybody help solve my problem Please?

Do you have a pic of the wheel with the airbag removed?

I seem to remember that wheels with a module in the middle like this don’t work.

Hi Deaky,
Thats the very same wheel as you can see below...the great news is:

I had a play about with VCDS tonight when I got back from my working away all week, the result is:

Both sets of buttons are working on my new Golf Mk6 flat bottom wheel.

The left hand side does change volume, station and music tracks on my Chinese head unit. the CC is still on the stalk and all still works fine.

The right hand buttons change the full menus of the MDF, this is with leaving the controls on the wiper stalk in-place.

I would like to eventually change the left hand buttons to include CC, I don’t know if this is possible yet I've read that people who have tried to do this even with changing out the left hand stalk to none CC still cant get the buttons to work….would like to hear if anyone managed to make this CC work of the MFSW button.

I have put up all the pics of the part numbers that might help others !

Nice work Patrick, do you know if that’s the only part combo that works mate? Wired mine in today and haven’t even got lights. Had a guy try to code it and he kept saying his machine wouldn’t talk to port 7 (whatever that means) . I've got the same wheel going in a 2012 t5.1 kombi

Sorry unable to help on your issues! Was just wondering how hard is it to get my wheel illuminated? I have swapped my steering wheel and will be happy just to have it lit at night. Is this a simple job I could do myself?

You need a proper vag-com lead and then put a tick in the box for multi function wheel......everything works on mine, including the illumination!
