LV insurance; My vehicle is being dumped!

Vehicle is a T6 Bilbos Celex, been around for many years. It's a 2016 BiTDI 204PS DSG7 etc. Have insured with LV for several years. No reason given save only that LV are no longer interested in such vehicles. Last year premium was circa £500. Anyone have a comment and/or recommendation for alternative insurer please?

Try Comfort insurance. Had nothing but good experience with them, inc when we needed them. Paying around 400 in West Midlands.

I'm paying more than @borat, but I'm in my 3rd year year with Comfort and I rate them highly.

Thank you.
FWIW, in my experience, the premiums quoted by Comfort seem very sensitive to the stated value of your van and the requested annual mileage. If you can keep these two figures realistic, they seem quite competitive, but, conversely, the premiums they quote rise sharply if you push up either to any great extent.

Obviously I'm not advising you to under-value your van - just to keep it realistic.👍

Interesting. They renewed mine on 2nd June - fair bit cheaper this year too, despite always being the best quote I get when shopping around at renewal time.
I’m just on a lowly 102hp but full camper conversion and left on the road (outside my house) in the city.

Thank you, still getting quotes.

Previously had a Bilbos T4 LWB 102hp 2.5ltr. Over a decade of joyful ownership. Mmm; you never get to the bottom of underwriting decision making. JustKampers have come up with a reasonable quote.

No. A friend was telling me today that after he moved - about one mile from his old place when the landlord sold it and booted them out, his insurance almost doubled!
The only thing that had changed was the postcode and I’d have thought car thieves wouldn’t be put off by one mile?

I once moved house and got a notable hike in my car insurance...despite having moved such a short distance I could see my old house from an upstairs window.

Our Bilbo's was with Safeguard who always appeared to have a reasonable quote. In fact our new van is also with them, having found the various competitors somewhat of a nightmare to get quotes from.

It pays to shop around but at the end of the day insurance premium is down to the risk or perceived risk calculated by perimeters. I would imagine that that parking on a street is considered a higher risk than parking on ones own drive way, that residing in a city might be considered a higher risk than living in a rural or remote area. Parking in a garage may be considered less of a risk than on a drive way. Even within a larger area it could still be affected by post code crime rates and accident rates. What about the risk any particular driver presents, their personal driving history, age group even employment and so on. We may accept that everyone is on a level playing field but that is most likely a rare situation. Some may source their own Insurers and everything is fine but others might consider using a broker particularly a specialist who may have a list of insurers that may accept some risks with a different view or who may offset that in some other way. I do not know how useful it is asking people on a forum about insurance costs because we all present with different risks for a whole multitude of reasons, some of which people might not want to discuss on an open forum or even between people outside of their own personal friendship circle.

LV are reportedly dropping Motorhomes and Campervans but there has been a lot of inconsistency.

They renewed mine in May.

LV has just told me they will no longer insure my van after this years expiry.
"This is due to a change in our underwriting criteria and we're no longer able to insure this campervan or motorhome".

Just had an email from LV and logged in.

Renewal £70 less than last year.

I'll take that!
