Looking for advice. HGV Clips my van and doesn't stop.

This is a short video. Basically he was right up my chuff, causing me to speed up (I know) but still caught me up and clipped the van. I know this section of the road and knew the road narrows and that there are the feed in arrows coming.

I have tried to find out how to contact the company, K Cowie Transport, but they dont have a website or internet presence.

It may well be because I am viewing the video on my phone but it is difficult for me to determine that there was contact.

I don't imagine a lot would happen if he goes to police first. If he can contact them and ask to settle prior to involving the fuzz it may work out better

Bus lanes are only at certain times in certain areas.

When a company solely uses social media and has no other online presence it rings alarm bells for me - suggests they like to disappear and reappear easily.

Worth trying to contact them now we see they have Instagram but I wouldn’t hold out much hope.

With contacting the Police it’s still easy enough to do (their websites have a chat function which and they email you a link so you can easily upload video evidence) but I imagine the trucker didn’t notice he clipped you with the arse end of his trailer, although driving like a knob it’s something most people would expect, and I expect the Police won’t therefore see it as a straight hit and run type incident and will suggest you contact them yourself first.

So my opinion would be try the Instagram route first and take it from there.

The standard of driving all round just seems to drop daily now. But it hits harder when it should be a ‘professional’ driver and especially one in something as big as that with all the potential death it can cause.

Companies house has a registered address and a correspondence address for them but also say the company is dissolved.

Hopefully that’s not the case but if you get nowhere maybe the Police could make some checks?

You can hear on the video rhe noise as the tractor unit goes past. I dont think it was the arse end. It almost looks like it was on purpose.

Similar happened to me mate. I dealt directly with the company involved. It was clear that their driver was at fault and was settled accordingly. If that can be done and you have the dash cam footage may be best for everyone.... That is assuming you can find them!

Play it straight. Contact the Police and tell them you've had a ' fail to stop RTC'. Get the incident number off them and ask for the Oic to contact you for collection of the footage. Report it to your insurer too and give them the Inc. Number.
The OIC will carry out the relevant enquiries regarding insurance of the other party and who was driving

Bus lane is 7am to 10am then 4pm to 7pm. It’s on the signs in the video.

It does seem the best way over all to contact the po po, but I think Jon's wanting to avoid having insurance companies involved as generally they ins comoanies are the only party to come out better off. Jon will have higher premiums for the next 5yrs even as a no fault non claiming party. Not fair at all.

The guy had been up his arse for a while before this. Any driver doing that is more than keepin an eye on where his wheels are imho

It was the front corner of the bumper. I am convinced it was deliberate or at least trying to intimidate me.
