Kombi 2 + 1 rear centre seat belt jammed.

Hi Guys, new to the forum and wanting some help. I removed the rear seats in my kombi and when I put them back in, the centre seat belt is jammed tight. Any suggestions or will it require replacing?
Thanks..

Good evening and welcome.
Quite often it's the inertia reel locking while the seat back is folded and the belt has retracted a little. When the seat back is raised it pulls the belt so tight that it cannot release itself in the normal way. It's not usually a regular problem but it certainly happens.
Fold the seat again and make sure that the belt has released.

Thanks mate, I’ll give that a go and thanks for the quick reply..

It happens regularly on mine, as said just fold the seat to take the tension off the belt and release it.

This happened on my Kombi, and i had no other option than to unbolt the seatbelt retractor from the back of the seat. Only slightly, to get it to move a few inches.
Its been fine ever since, so just unlucky.

Resurrecting this thread - it's an annoying habit of our Kombi 2+1 and has no logic or pattern. Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it's an absolute pain! Last time it happened, it sorted itself out after a journey without that seat being sat in.

It's now jammed without folding/unfolding the seat at all - the van has sat on the drive all week!

GRRR!! - Any inspiration out there for a permanent solution to this annoyance?

I rarely use the centre seat belt now as the four of us tend to take another vehicle when our dog is with us (and we need 5 belts). I just leave the centre seat belt tucked over the headrest so there is always some slack to allow it to release, should it inadvertently lock.

Hi. I suppose the become worn and dirty over time. Not sure if cleaning might help. Perhaps a new replacement belt?
