@Absolut5 is probably the best to answer this but anybody who's got either installed will probably know the answer as well. I note from the full spec on the Kenwood website that the 8019 and 8020 both have two USB inputs but I'm wondering if using additional 'USB Retention Cable' in the installation adds a third which, in the case of my Highline, is on the dash. Or is this a stupid question? Cheers.

The 8019/20 has 2 usb on flyleads, the retention kit allows one of them to be used to retain the use of the dash usb, the other one is normally dropped into the glovebox, or if you have a Caravelle with 2x dash usb sockets, then you can retain both

@Absolut5. Thanks for that. I asked the original question as I also want to be able to plug in my Samsung S9 mobile for Android Auto because I've heard mixed reviews of the wireless capabilities. If the phone worked OK wirelessly (for sat nav etc.) 2 USBs would suffice but...

The 8020dabs is a better unit for wireless android, a lot easier to connect , both usb sockets will charge the phone, play mp3/4 of sticks, and 1 of them is dedicated to CarPlay and the other for android auto

I have a comfort dash, with the 8020 do you have the colour matched surround insert? The pictures I have seen have been on standard dash with light grey insert?

thanks.

The surround matches the factory headunit finish..

there are gloss black surrounds, but they look cheap

Is there anything stopping you using 2 USB retention leads on a non Caravelle if you wanted to have the option for two OEM dash look USB sockets?
Suitable for someone that has the original front dash highline USB and then added the Comfort dash console USB?
