Just taken ownership of our first van, it was love at first sight

We've had one test run out to the beach so far. Still so many things to figure out, like what the random black push button on the dash does.

Does anyone know what the paint colour is called? I'm not sure if it's a factory original paint job or not, it's badged as a Wolfsburg Edition.

Also I'm a bit suprised at the cost of a new front passenger seat! We want to swap out the double seat. Not sure if it's best to get a matching pair of front seats, or get any old seat and have them re-upholstered to match, maybe using a light blue to go with the paint job.

Welcome aboard the T6 journey @jessshannon0
I am sure you'll have plenty of future fun in your new Bus.
If you've got deep pockets please read:
There are folk on here that will lead you astray & make you think you need to buy new "stuff", when probably you'll be ok as is
There is a load of very valuable info on here, so use the "search" function to delve into the vaults.
Be nice to see you at a few Forum meets, Bala / Market Harborough or even at Club Camping at Camperjam / Busfest

The paint job isn't standard from Vw and was more than likely a white van that the converters have painted the bottom half - looks good though
Post up a photo of the unidentified "black push nob" & I am sure a fellow T6er will tell you what it is or what it could be...
Yes you are correct, an original Transporter single passenger seat is horrendously expensive at around the £900.00 mark, but if the current double seat is a little uncomfortable for the longer journey, then a Vancraft seat adaptor may just be the trick to ease the up rightness of the seat:

Congratulations on the purchase!

Regarding captains seats, yes they are very expensive unfortunately! I got sick of the cost of them and ended up changing both front seats for Mercedes seats for £200!

Made up for you @jessshannon0.

The colour combo is not your run of the mill ones I see all the time. Enjoy guys,

What are they like when driving at pace ;)? Do you still get thrown around?

That's an interesting option! Did they fit easily or did you need to make any modifications? I'm a total novice with vehicles but I have a socket set and I'm willing to give things a go

Here is the mystery button. I've not found anything obvious that it switches on and off, possibly it's something to do with the leisure battery? Any ideas for things to check would be appreciated!

Needed the runners on the seats amending/fabricating to suit the VW seat bases. Super comfy though and got them from a breakers so quite cheap

That button is non original (but using one of the spare blanks that are only used for certain options). Did you buy the van from a converter? If so then they might know, so ask them. Unless someone on here has a similar conversion with a similar button.

Pop the blank with the button out, see if there are any wires connected to it, might not be. If there are, see if you can trace where they go. Maybe the wire colour and size might help, check the accessories fitted and see if the wires match. It’s not a VW Oem button so could be anything or nothing.

Didn't someone recently have a similar button with a red led in it? Something to do with the B pillar switch... getting old, forgotten now....

Will it just pop off with a screw driver? I don’t want to break it

Before you jump into a passenger captains seat use your van a little. Space is at a premium in a camper and the huge amount of space under the double seat fits virtually all our clothing using 2 nylon bags. That’s a massive amount of space saved in the rear.
If you have a swivel base then once you swivel the seat all your clothes are readily available even when the bed is pulled out.
Van looks great.

He's right y'know! The 6.1 rental we had first had the double front seat with the 'JCB' bucket storage under it. Very useful. The van we ended up buying has single captains chairs with the passenger one swivelling. Less space now. Wifey bought some of those zippable uppable space saving bags for clothes which are fantastic, squeezes all the air out of packed clothes. Game changer for us those are. Captains seats are wonderfully comfortable though! The usual pros and cons debate! The twin front seat was an absolut b... to rotate!

The seat itself isn't that uncomfortable, but it's too high up. I'm tall so my knees hit the dash, and there's very little head room in the top. I basically have to sit sideways. Also I really want to be able to hop through into the back without having to go outside.

We've hired two t6's, first one had the double and the second one had singles, definitely preferred the latter. I hear what you're saying on storage space though, there's so much room under that seat! I'm planning on fitting a lockable safe base on it so we still have some storage.

We had same problem with seat height after fitting swivel so got a reduced height base from Vankraft, not cheap but returns seat height to original height before swivel was fitted. Reduces storage under seat slightly but a much more comfy ride for passengers.
