Just Got A New T30 (2013) - Some Info On How To Keep It Healthy..

Hi, glad to see a healthy community here, just got a T30 2013, was an ex Northgate fleet hire van, 178k, FSH (print outs of dates, no actual receipts though), body is mint and, well all seems well underneath, apart from the engine going into limp mode on the motorway yesterday, which I am getting plugged into diog tool this week..

I wanted to ask my best practice to keep my van strong and healthy..

  • How often should I service it?
  • Should I take the van for a professional service (indi or VW) or is it something I could attempt myself?
  • Any good driving practices, like warming up the engine for first few miles and warming it down for a minute or two before stopping engine?
  • Things to look out for like what are common progressive issues?
  • Anything else I could be aware of?
I undertsand the T30 just has stronger springs for higher payloads, does this mean the van is heavier or what? T30 (1 of 1).jpg

Thanks in advance.

......... apart from the chronic OCD and being spend-a-holics on customizations and accessories you mean ?? :D

Welcome to the farm

I have OCD anyway so I will fit right in. I will leave the accessories out, apart from nice wheels and possibly a nice air freshner... :)

Hi @thevoyager and welcome to the forum  nice van.
Just so you are aware - some of the information on this forum will be directly applicable to your van and some of it may not be. The reason being that yours is a T5.1 and a lot of the comments will be related to a T6 so some things may be a little different.
Happy to have you with us.

Yeah I was unsure as it was not T5,is there a 5.1 forum? Or would it be t5 forum?

You are more than welcome to post here but as T6s are newer (and all still under warranty) you won’t find so much assistance on the mechanical side as they haven’t been attacked by DIYers and home mechanics much yet
The rolling chassis is identical to a T6 so wheels/lowering plus lots of other accessories are the same
