Juddering in upper gears

any one fixed the issue with T6 highline 102 juddering doing about 30mph in 3rd 4th gear I’d just come back from a 30mile journey up the A1 so had a good run. Vans done 4K I’ve done 2k since I’ve had it

There say its normal and nothing wrong
Wash your motor with dirty water
Marr the paintwork and cover your interior in bull#h#t spray so you cant keep your feet on the pedals!

Good luck

Hi
Our 2017 T6 has an engine judder. Seems to do it in hot weather intermittently. Van only done 300 miles. Took it to vw dealer and they said they all to do! Just one of those things. wtf!! Totally not happy. They said leave it and see if it gets any worse.

I would report them and their quote to VW. Ask for a demo run with the idiot

Mine seemed to have a sort of 'cough' every now and then, the engine light would come on then go out after 3 restarts. Then one cough it made the Adblu indicator go from 4000 miles remaining to 650 miles..... new ECU being fitted.

Hi

I wonder if anyone can confirm my suspicions please. My lightly driven 2015 T6 has an occasional issue whereby it 'judders' particularly in 5th gear and occasionally in 6th. This occurs when under very gentle acceleration as it goes up the gears. If I'm driving a little more aggressively it does not occur. I'm of the opinion that it's getting slightly worse or more frequent.

I see from quick search of the forum that the only other mention of 'juddering' relates to an engine remap. I have indeed had the vehicle remapped but I hadn't really considered that it could have 'mechanical' consequences.

Is this the likely culprit and is it best to have it put back to the standard map.

Thanks.

Millage?

What engine & PS?

DSG or manual.?

Possible clutch / DMF related?

Well you have 6 gears so you have one of the bigger engines, if the 5 speed box that is known for being a bit weak generally the 6 speed is a lot tougher
Unfortunately the most common scenario is DMF issues but it could be engine related and a consequence of the remap ??

Thanks for the prompt reply. Sorry I'm not too technical, so you've lost me with some of the acronyms!

Mileage 37,000
140 bhp model (from memory)
DSG
Bluemotion Highline (in case that's relevant)

Sorry, what are PS and DMF?

PS is a metric version of BHP basically. A German word that I'm not going to try to write without checking!
DMF = Dual Mass Flywheel

Fancy me not knowing that! ;)

Is the collective advice that I should get the original default map reinstated?

Will it have done any mechanical damage?

I'm no expert, but think if it was the map it would be under heavy load??
What / whose map is on it?
Used to get a wee bit ot judder in 5th only on my remapped 140 t5. 1, but only under heavy load when towing.

Hi. Definitely only under gentle driving for me. That's why it feel so odd as nothing is being 'asked' of the engine at the time. The map was done by Black Code.

if it was a mechanical issue . . . . . ie a failing DMF, it would be all the time under all loads.

its DSG and at 37k so the DMF and clutch pack should be good.

so as you say its occasional and under light loads . . . . it may be down to the map?

as the map is an unknown variable you dont know what the MAP characteristics are at that point in time . .?

basically saying it may just be a symptom of running that map . . . . as normally the maps are coded for more power, and this is happening under light power demand.

The maps can adjust and change the boost pressure, fuel pressure, injection timings and many other things, maybe under that light load specific moment the map isnt producing enough power.

the only real tell is either time . . . . . to see if it gets worse.

or have the map removed for a time to see if the symptoms change.

not seen these guys before ( looks like a franchise setup ) & not sure how the maps are Dyno proved or setup.

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll have the map reset and see if it sorts it. I think the Black-Code operation is some kind of head office with, as you say, a local operator who comes to site. I them before with a motorhome which all seemed okay, but can't I've really been that impressed with their approach and operation.

The map really improved the feel and efficiency of my T6, so I believe it to be worth doing in principal. Are there any better reputable companies that are worth using?
