Is There Currently A Shortage Of T6 Stock?

Apretext

Edition Kombi 150PS
T6 Pro
Went to the auction today, a Sportline Kombi (66 plate, 18K miles) went for over 30K (before fees!) and a T32 Highline 204 Kombi was £27,200 despite the interior being really scratched/dented in the rear.

So, what's making dealers pay daft prices? There can be virtually no margin in either for a dealer in either of those

Yeah, that’s very impressive! To be fair, 7k drop over 18 months and 18k miles on the Sportline is virtually unheard of in depreciation terms.

Good once you own, but just means getting one is wallet stinging....

This is my first post on this site i have been reading and enjoying all the banter you must be talking about the bca Measham auction i was looking at the Blackberry Highline combi went for silly money

I am indeed! All the kombis seemed to go massively above cap.

The Sportline was lovely though, but I think it’s always going to be out of budget for me :(

I phoned bca to ask what the blackberry combi went for it was caped at £13800 they wont tell you the price over the phone but she said it went for over £20K engine management light was on needed paintwork to the tailgate all the tyres were all bold it was only a 140hp euro 5 and it was over due a service

I was considering BCA very early on until VW commercial @ Manchester advised me they're happy to send their second hand vans there as they make more at auction than on their forecourt. Having been there it appears to be the case.

It is only a Transporter thing Transit customs and all other vans go for there cap prices the search goes on for my new van

To be fair, the very standard transporters were going for around cap (ie 102 startlines in white), but anything vaguely interesting was very pricey.

Dealer told me last week that there is a shortage of Kombi stock and VW sell approved Kombi's usually to first person who spots it on their website - there are no discounts to be had! To be fair VW are pricing used vans fairly but auction and private prices are high hence small margins. The main issue so I am told is that very few new vans are being ordered at the moment with the Brexit slump likely to mean many seek value in used than waste cash on depreciation. Could be a real problem down the line with a gap in used stock as a result. If you can find a low miles Kombi and add some tasteful mods you can make some easy quick money.

We stopped buying at BCA two years ago. Prices are just through the roof.

I guarantee both the vans above went to retail punters, not trade.

Prices are strong at the moment, I have just sold my 2016 150 ps Cali Beach for £40k, I only paid £44k for it new 2 1/2 years ago !

That is amazing! 2 and a half years of use and potentially plenty of holidays and it only cost you £4k to own it.
A mate of mine did the same, he owned a T5.1 Cali for 2 years, and 22k miles and lost only £3k when he sold it, so what did he do? Ordered another one straight away.
I thought my industry held it's prices well in Motorhomes, but that's a new level and basing on what some people pay for just one holiday for 2 weeks in somewhere nice, this is almost free ownership :)

Nice one Kev, that didn’t take long!

We sell our Cali’s every year, there is such a high demand for them, and a general shortage of decent stock - never have any issues selling.

Have you looked at buying new instead? I got 12% off list price and was able to spec one to my exact requirements.

You can probably guess who I used to find me a deal and supply it
