Welcome to The Van Cave

Based in the heart of the beautiful Somerset countryside, run by a guy who is mad about VW transporters, The Van Cave offers customers the very best in suspension upgrades, wheel and tyre packages, exterior styling and interior styling. If you're looking to improve the ride and styling of your T5, T5.1, T6 or T6.1 then the Van Cave is the perfect place to visit.

Suspension:
The Van Cave is an @CRS Performance approved suspension centre and can therefore offer most of the fantastic products that CRS offer whilst being backed by Steve's enormous level of experience and wealth of knowledge of transporter suspension. Whether you're looking to improve the ride of your van, get it slammed down low, correct a saggy camper rear end or anything in between, I can help. I offer products from Koni, H&R and ST, ranging from a simple spring change, to sports shocks offering superb levels of comfort, or a choice of 3 different coil over kits depending on the application. I also offer the fantastic H&R ARBs to stiffen up your vans chassis and help reduce body roll, improving handling even further with no sacrifice to comfort. I always ensure I listen to your specific requirements as a customer before making a recommendation to ensure that you always end up with the suspension that is right for you.

Wheels and Tyres:
If you're looking for new wheels and tyres and you want extremely competitive prices then get in touch. I can source a huge selection of wheel and tyre packages, including those offered by VW as an upgrade and always at very good prices. I can offer 18s, 19s, 20s, same width all round or staggered set ups, always correctly load rated and with matching tyres. If you're head is spinning with the huge number of possible options, or sometimes seemingly impossible options, then I can help. I've done the head scratching and trial and error so that you don't have to.

Exterior Styling:
Front splitters, side bars, side steps, rear spoilers, aftermarket, Sportline and ABT style are all available at The Van Cave. If you fancy some gloss black plastics, or any other colour for that matter, I've got that covered too. That's just a small list, but let me know what you're after and I can make it happen.

Interior Styling:
Leather, Alcantara or vegan option seat re-trims are all available and are all carried out by a local Aston Martin specialist to ensure the absolute best possible finish. All leather is sourced from within the UK and is of the highest quality, with all re-trims done by hand. Why stop at the seats though? If you fancy a change to your headlining, or maybe your A and B pillars covered then that's all possible too. Wishing you had a comfort dash in your T6? Sorted. I don't offer a full comfort dash retrofit, frankly I think the cost doesn't justify it, but I can offer a fantastic solution using a mix of genuine VW and aftermarket parts that vastly improves the look of the standard T6 dash. Unfortunately, as a very new business, my interior re-trim design options are still being finalised, so I'm a short while away from being able to offer a finished product. Once my own van is done I'll share some images so you can see just how plush your interior can be.

Sound Proofing, Insulation and Carpet Lining:
If you're looking to reduce road noise and make your van a nicer place to be in the back then I can help here too, just let me know what you're looking for and I can make it happen.

If you've got this far then thanks for reading. Below you'll find a few images of my own van, use it as inspiration if you wish, but even if you're looking for something completely different I'm sure I can help with that too.

Best method of contact is via the forum or using email chris@thevancave.co.uk

Thanks again, Chris.

Very Good, were are you located? Is it safe or OK here, to give an address and contact details. It may help people decide if you are their best option. Good luck with your operation.:)

Nice wheels @ChrisR. What are they and are they 22’s?

I spoke with @ChrisR via PM and he certainly knows his stuff regarding suspension.

I'm happy to share address and contact information. I'm based in South Petherton, Somerset, TA13 5DJ. Email or through the forum is the best method of contacting me, I can't always answer the phone straight away. Email is chris@thevancave.co.uk

Not quite that big, they're 20s. Zito ZF01 in hyper silver. Load rated for all vans including T32. Staggered fitment; 10" rear and 9" fronts.

Well, I was not only thinking of myself. I assumed, that you might want to attract people, not only those who are forum members, but those who are watching from the side who have not joined the forum. As well as the wider public. If this is a completely new adventure. Perhaps you are already an established outlet and this is in addition, to what you normally do? Perhaps you may have thought of a Web site or will that be part of the CRS banner and that is not up to you. Are the images above part of your operational premises?

In any case, I wish you every success. :)

One other thing, will you also have wheel tracking?

Wishing you every success Chris! I hope to pop down for a splitter for my T6 Cali!
Regards,

JOG

I have a domain name ready, a Facebook page and Instagram page in my name, but haven't uploaded any content yet. That's stage 2 of the introduction, stage 1 was to introduce the business to this forum, something I wanted to do partly because this wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for this forum fuelling my addiction to transporters in the first place!

I am a separate company from CRS, operating independently, but with CRS as a suspension partner and for technical support if and when required. It's a close relationship, but we are independent companies.

I can't offer wheel alignment myself, but I do recommend it when you've had suspension work done. There are 2 reasons why I can't offer it at the cave yet; 1, the unit simply isn't big enough to accommodate the additional ramp. 2, the cost involved in getting a system into the unit is just too high at the moment.

My suspension prices usually work out cheaper than the direct competition, even when you factor in getting a wheel alignment done separately.

Chris,

what are your views on bonnet deflectors? Any benefits?

I have to sneak my visit past senior management (domestic front!)

unless I came down the M5 to you direct from my trip to Cannock on Tuesday?!!
Unfortunately I can't do Tuesday, that would be an even longer day on the road for you too!

Chris,

Yes, there are benefits, they do protect the bonnet from stone chips etc. One of the things I love about transporters and how we choose to mod them is that there are so many ways to make them exactly how we want them, regardless of other peoples preferences. Personally, I don't like bonnet deflectors, I would rather get the bonnet resprayed each spring to remove any stone chips! That's just my personal opinion though, I will happily fit them for a customer if that's what they would like! I want to help create each customers perfect van, not just replicas of my perfect van.

A bonnet respray every year could be a bit pricey!!!

Having recently purchased my T6 Kombi the first thing that needed sorting was the suspension.
Chris posted a reply to my first post on here and gave me his recommendation for a max comfort setup. Koni Active shocks and H&R coils for a 40mm drop, and as I live just 30 minutes away from the new workshop it was an easy decision.
The ride is transformed and Chris has been great with advice on other issues on my wish list, and some that weren’t but are now!
Thanks Chris, and see you again on Tues!
