Intermittent warning beep from dashboard

The audible warning takes the form of a series of beeps possibly a dozen. Sometimes the vehicle drives for 100s of miles without the warning beep, at other times it makes a series of beeps. Then the beeps stop and then there is another series. This repeats for a while. Then it stops randomly. There are no warning messages or lights on the dashboard, no indication on the dashboard that any doors are open and no other observable pattern in the occurrence other than an unconfirmed possibility that it may be more prevalent in the wet.

can you get a clip of it on your phone?

and post a link to that here?

UPDATE ON THE BEEPS:

Tends to happen within about 3 miles of the start of the journey.

Consists of a series of beeps at about 1 second intervals of between 12 and 25 with a variable amount of time and mileage between each series of beeps.

Sound is coming from the speaker behind the dashboard.

Happens while the engine is running and continues when stationary but have not heard it when the engine is stopped.

Independent of the following factors:
  • Speed
  • Acceleration
  • Movement from side to side
  • Bumps
  • Up hill or down hill
  • Indicators
  • Gears selected
  • Lights

Appears to use a regular sequence such as

Number of beeps: 25 24 21 21 21 20 20 22 20 20 19 21 20 19 19 19 19
or
Number of beeps: 15 15 16 16 17 17 17 18 18 19 18

Beeps tend to stop once the engine is fully warmed up.

And can you record it, upload to YouTube or similar and post a link ?

Get it scanned with VCDS and post the data on here, that may give someone a clue.

Thank you for the chaser on updating this fault. It was a silly one! It was the leisure battery charger which is mounted under the driver's seat giving an over voltage alarm! I have not got to the bottom of why it is going over voltage yet, but the solution is to turn on the lights or something and then it goes away. So nothing to do with the poor old van at all. The problem is with these high pitched alarms you can't tell where they are coming from.
