Intelligent relay?

Just realised the first part of this is very much like Epic-Robs post in February this year.

I’m beginning to think I have the wrong relay for split charging on my 2017 T6. I’ve had leisure battery charging problems for some time now and was beginning to suspect the relay. The converters have installed an Amber Valley 200 A. P2016 8-1 12v same type as this….att. Is this "intelligent" one what I really need?...att

I’m saving for a solar panel system I can install on the pop top but don’t want to spend money on new system parts that will soon become redundant. I plan on buying the Renogy 50A DC-DC battery charger with MPPT for the new 200w system on the roof. So my question is, could I put the Renogy box in place before getting down to the full solar panel installation. In other words…will it replace the present relay from the smart alternator with an intelligent switch over until I have the full dual charging systems up and running.

Thanks Lad. That means I can start building the solar charging system a bit at a time while my financial system is still in intensive care. :D

Two things the VSR probably doesn't have, but the DCC50S will need is a large ground cable, and an ignition switched 12V (this cable is supplied by renogy)

And your plan to use it without solar at first is exactly what I did with mine.

Watch out for the max VOC of 25V when you buy PV panels
