After my Discover Media screen started getting dead-spots and then ultimately ghosting to the point that the only screen I could have it on was the Main Menu (otherwise it’d call people or change sat-nav destinations) I followed these two and got it repaired..

Had similar issue with touchscreen failure with discover media system.
seems to be a common problem on the internet and it isn’t a software problem.
just had a new screen fitted and all sorted !
great service from Ian at Ingleby Electronics

VW Vans at Preston quoted £2960! I have a replacement head enroute from Retrofit South West to exactly same spec as what was fitted.
I now have my original head unit and cannot decide what to do with it.
Specialising in VW Audi Skoda Seat radio unlocking Contact us. Replaces the screen for £300 and says he does 10 a week.
He takes your old screen in PX.
His EBay page is: VW T6 5C0035680 Touch Screen Replacement Discover Media MIB2PQ touch ghosting | eBay
Whilst I’m £320 lighter, the unit now works as it should do!

Ian at Ingleby Electronics was able offer either a DIY or workshop option, and spoke about the next steps should it have been more that just the screen that needed replacing (ie: it carried on ghosting).
He was able to answer all my questions and give me a realistic idea what my unit would need.
He’s got a pre-addressed courier label option on his website, so once the unit was boxed up and sent he kept up good communication - and fixed it quickly knowing I was going on holiday this week.

So top marks to @Ianidor

Thanks Ads_Essex.
I did go onto his website quickly but his contact details didn't display. I suspect this is more to do with my browser being strict about scripts, tracking cookies etc. However, I will try another browser. As you can see I am fairly new to this Forum and still trying to find my way around, I hope I have typed this reply in the correct place?

You have replied in the correct place, as well as quoting a message, so you’re doing well

Thanks for your help in suggesting Ian at Ingleby Electronics. After speaking to Ian on the phone and discussing the problems with my head unit, I arranged to send my unit off to him for a new screen to be fitted and fully tested. Within a week the unit was back with me and is now in my van fully working. Ian could not have been more helpful with advice how to remove my old unit and the care to be taken in removing all the cables safely. I have enclosed some photos of the trim which has to be removed before taking the head unit out so others can see where the clips are when using trim removal tools. The trim comes off with the air vents attached. Also care needs to be taken when removing the plugs from the rear of the unit as they have locking clips which need to be released before the plugs can be removed.

Just a quick thank you to Ian at Ingleby Electronics. I had a faulty head unit where the touch screen was not responding in certain areas. I spoke to Ian about it, took out of the Van on Monday morning, sent it up to him via parcel force, Ian texted me on Thursday saying it was all fixed, while he had the unit he also activated voice control for me and by 9am on Friday morning my unit was back to me by parcel force. So a very efficient and good service.
Thanks, Paul.

Hi there. Just thought I’d check to see if your discovery media system is still working following the screen replacement you had done. Mine is on the blink and I’m going to have to get it sorted - like everyone else I have a 2016 van. Whilst I don’t know if I’m coincident enough to remove my own I would take the drive up to Ingleby if this seems to be a fix that works long term.

The head unit is still working perfectly, touch wood. I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems yet again and hope that you are able to get the screen fixed.

I’ve never had mine fixed I am looking into what options for fixing are available. Encouraged that yours is still working though

Sorry I misunderstood your original message. It would seem you are at the level I was before things became to bad to use the unit. Mine stated with just half the touch screen working, which was soon followed by the rest of the touch screen going the same way. The radio stations jumping about on their own accord and not being able to use any of the menus. Also, unable to set the satnav and the reversing camera only displayed part of the picture. I spent a lot of time looking around and wondering if I should replace the whole unit with another make. However, eventually I followed the advice of another member who gave me all the advice about Inglby Electronics and everything has been good since. My advice to you is to ring Ian at Inglby and have a talk about your problems his number is 07706005115. When I phoned him he was repairing 15 units a week as the same head unit is used in many of VW cars.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that actually fails in the head unit? Mine’s going the same way, but luckily still under warranty.

Thank you that’s really helpful.
Mine sounds exactly like yours - radio stations jumping around (it chooses what I listen to now!), touch screen not working, maps zooming in and out. I will definitely give him a call as it’s very encouraging that it’s worked for you. Thanks for the reply
