That’s the daft thing - if they’re up front with where they use AI nobody would flag it as an issue.
I don’t see it as a scam but personally I find it a bit lazy.

I sell stuff on eBay and the AI write up for the article description can be a useful tool but it makes mistakes. I always edit it by adding more info and correcting its wrong assumptions. I also add a title before the write up saying ‘AI generated description’. I feel buyers ought to know. I never use an AI image on a listing but I’m only selling stuff I have, not stuff I plan to make. (Plus I’m not interested in AI enough to ask it to make an image.)

They are converting a 500 quid , 20 year old scrapper. , so it probably will

Ebay are really pushing AI at the moment. They have shutdown their entire UK support team and are shutting down their UK support via Facebook / Twitter. Replaced by AI chatbots and processes backed up by offshore support. It makes trying resolve a problem excruciatingly difficult. They are also pushing sellers to use AI in listing descriptions, however the results are flowery extolement of the item but short on detail. The style is very recognisable. Its poor lazy selling IMO and easily recognisable and I click away as soon as I see it.

I don't blame the seller, they have just drunk the cool-aid. Ebay seem determined to over-engineer themselves to extinction at the moment.
