Ice forming under the roof panels

I have a 2019 T6 and it has roof panels fitted. I am presuming as standard as I bought it from a dealer August last year after it was used as a demonstrator for 9 months. Since all this cold weather has been around, I have suffered from a lot of water on the inside of the windscreen and what I thought was a leak in the roof. I don't see where a leak could be coming from, so assume it is condensation forming under the roof panels and then turning to ice with the cold weather up here in Scotland. When the temperature warms up a bit, it starts to melt and drip. Dripping from roof video. Any idea's how to stop this?

have you got roof rails or roof bars fitted?

it can be known for water ingress via the fixing bolts on the roof?

you can remove those grey panels very easy to see whats what . .

I do have roof rails fitted. I have not experienced water ingress until the cold weather.

Thanks, I'll take the panels off and have a look in that case.

If its not an outright leak and is condensation build up you could try out some of the absorber pads you get, we keep one in each of our work vans as we are always in and out of van in rain etc so helps absorb so if that excess moisture then i just put in on a rad overnight in my house every few weeks to dry out and go again
or

Alternatively you could drop the hardboard roof panels and stick something against the bare metal to help counteract the condensation
I have seen everything from proper insulation rolls used to old carpet tiles spray glued to the inside of the roof in a old transit to stop it (which worked !!)

Thanks for the reply, I have just dropped the rear roof panel and it is as you say, condensation building up in the middle, freezing with our cold temperatures, then thawing and dripping out from the side. I will look at the condensation pads and definitely put some insulation in!

Well there were two sources of water ingress. The first was from a rubber seal that had failed on the roof bars, so they have been removed in this weather and I can look at them again in the warmer drier weather.

The second was as expected, condensation build up under the roof panels, both middle and rear. I have ordered moisture pads and roof insulation. Fingers crossed that will solve the issue!

judging by the amount of mini ice stalagtites I have in my works van that has a rotating roof vent fitted, I'd say no.
