Hub Caps. Whats going on here then?

Happened to notice on two of my all black centre hub caps, that some silver was coming through near the centre VW logo. So set about them with some light abrasive polish and a well worn scouring pad a low and behold, some shinny VW logos appeared out of the blackness. However the other two are very slightly, different mouldings and are solid black and dont reveal chrome. Yet the part numbers are the same on both pairs. Date stamps show manufacture October 2015 (chrome) and December 2015 (non chrome). Van was registered in February 2016. Quick look on ebay to find matching pairs throws up both, albeit they all need the polish treatment to revel the chrome VW logo. Confused.com

The Amarok has the Chrome centre hubcaps

maybe the dealer techs couldn't find the right ones after removing then and just painted a few amarok ones to get the job done?

I've got a spare set in the workshop, i might need to have a closer look.

Mmhm. Non chrome ones have a channel around the circumference of the badge about 4mm wide and 3mm deep. The small dots between the letters are diamond shaped. The chrome version has round dots and no channel.
