How To Check If It’s Actually 4motion

Hi, I’m looking to buy a second hand 4motion t6 transporter that’s interstate.
Before flying up and checking it out, is there a way the owner can assure me it’s actually 4 motion? Maybe I should get photos of the drive train? Is this something that is visible under the van?
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks Tim

Will have external badges saying 4 motion and may also be in the description on the V5 ?

You could ask for the VIN and make a VIN lookup @ VW to get the PR Code list.
Than you know everything about the car of interest.
There is a free side for this: VIN: VOLKSWAGEN | CARInfo
But it often does not list the car you ask.
Than you only can get this info from VW.
@ Volkswagen AG erWin Online you can gegister as private person
You than must buy a 1 hour account, with that accout you can get infos from the VIN.

But Pictures will do the Job, too.
4 Motion does have the propeller Shaft going from front to back under the Car, in the Middle,
And you have the Rear diff and the drive shafts to the wheels.
Some pictures from under the back will show you this

Hopefully this is still monitored.

Excellent, thanks for the reply.

I don't suppose you can also find out if it has the diff lock that way as well?

Well, it would be on another file - also titled as "Vehicle-specific information". Your attachment looks like one from erWin - containing "campaigns" for the vehicle. The other file with so called PR-codes should have been also there - perhaps you have it - their cover pages are almost identical.

Do you have configuration sticker from the van. It is located under dash between driver's door and steering column. The code "1Y4" on sticker would indicate "mechanical rear differential lock"
