Purely in the interests of research, I carried out a speed check on my van a few days ago on the German Autobahn (A8) near Stuttgart. Yes, it was slightly downhill, but I also had 3 persons ski luggage inside (though not the people themselves - the Mrs would never have allowed it!), so with my standard internal furniture it was not a light van.
Anyway, the GPS recorded 200kph and it was still accelerating when I backed off. That’s 124.3 mph in old money.
My van felt perfectly stable and composed at that speed on standard Devonports with winter tyres (sufficiently rated).
