How do I decide between these 2 vans?

I'm narrowing down my choice of van - T6 or T6.1 LWB Kombi suits our needs. Ideal spec would also include DSG, tailgate and spit rear seat (2:1 or 1:1:1). I've discounted the one I mentioned on my introduction. We now have a couple of options, both are Highline with similar spec engines - one is a 16 plate with 50k miles and a really high spec interior, 2:1 split rear seats, upgrade sound system, well sound proofed, leather seats, 18" Wolfrace wheels etc (but manual gears and barn doors). The other is a 69 plate with 91k miles with DSG and Tailgate, very 'standard' (but with a single row of 3 rear seats). Both are similar in price. I know it's hard to advise without know both vehicles but I'd appreciate any pointers to help me decide!

There are lots of good reasons to buy the newest van you can afford. The trouble is in your case there are just as many reasons to buy the van with much lower mileage!
Good luck whatever you decide.

Just worth a mention about the one I've discounted - this is a 70 plate T6.1 Highline with 70k miles on it, DSG and the 204 engine. It's lowered and on 20" wheels with tailgate and the 2:1 plot rear seats. It's a slightly higher price than these other 2. Reasons for dropping it - I want smaller wheels with higher profile tyres (so I'd need to swap these out and raise the suspension) and I'm nervous about the engine when I don't know much about it's history. It's a worry I don't need. But hey, never say never, it could come back into play yet, it's a stunning looker!

Leaning towards the 2016 low mileage van at the moment, DSG and Tailgate were preferred but not essential. I like that I don't need to do anything to this one as it already has the 2:1 kombi seats (these make quite a difference as I'll be able to tuck the front of my windsurfer under the 2 seat and still have 5 useable seats - not doable with the triple), captain seats up front, leather, all sound proofed and carpeted, decent stereo, reversing camera. Going for another look and negotiation tomorrow. If it doesn't work out then I'll work out how much I'd need to spend on the newer (but higher mileage) one to get it to where I want it to be (mainly seats and soundproofing/carpet lining).

The T6.1 is still lurking, trying to tempt me ;)

The only thing that’s not been mentioned is that some 2016 T6’s are Euro 5. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to avoid low emissions zones as they expand around the country.
I would be put off anything that wasn’t Euro 6.
All depends where you intend to drive.

Yes, this is a good point, this van is not Euro 6 so would be subject to ULEZ. It's not something that will bother us too much, it's very rare we go anywhere where this applies (and if we did we can take another car). But obviously when it comes to resale it could be a potential sticking point for some people.

Main thing is you've considered it so there's no nasty surprises down the line.
And I agree - great looking van, you won't regret a silver LWB. Had ours 5 years.
