Hive problem....

Anyone got HIVE Smart heating set-up?

I inherited the Thermostat and receiver and have happily been using it in the holiday cottage to run the lpg boiler. It's not running with the HIVE Hub as it's still registered to the previous owner and I don't want to fork out £80 for a new one. We wouldn't use it remotely either.

As we have guests staying next week, I thought I'd program in some boosts to the heating and hot water. Set it all fine, no problem.

Then I noticed the date and time was incorrect, probably due to the batteries running out recently when the property was empty. Popped into SETTINGS and set the date and time correctly but after saving and exiting, it just goes back to the incorrect ones. Can't seem to find a solution on t'web.

Any ideas?

Yeah turn the power off to the boiler, press and hold the back button and middle button on the thermostat and it will start a reset and count down from 10, once that’s done take a battery out the thermostat. Turn the power back on to the boiler and press and hold the receiver button till the light goes pinky white and let it go then put the battery back in the stat.

If you get the email and password from the previous owner, you can call hive and change it. Apart from that no, wouldn’t even let a bg engineer change them! Can buy a hub for 40-50 quid if you want to use it via the app.

Give me a call on 07732052177 any issues I fit hive loads and use to work with British Gas so know a lot about them.
Good to know! I’ve just bought a Hive Mini to add a second zone to an existing Hive installation I had put in 4 years ago, something tells me they won’t interoperate nicely but I hope they do!!

My hive is one of the really early ones and it keeps forgetting how to work! The temp in the house is below desired temp and it just doesnt send a message to the boiler to turn on.

If you need to upgrade then you might consider a Hive Mini which was released last month, it has a bit less functionality but is cheaper. I’ve just had a second heating zone added for upstairs and added a Mini for the second zone control. You do need one of the more modern hubs for it to work though. What does your current thermostat look like?

I’ve found Hive support helpful in the past, when I had a thermostat problem a few years ago I called them and they upgraded me to the latest product and hub for a heavily reduced price.
