09 is the address or word as used in the old days for the BCM designation in the ecu locations.

If i swap the buttons will i have to swap air bag loom? As there are only 4 wires that connect to the buttons
Yes I think you need the red illumination. A friend of mine fitted MFSW with cruise but white buttons and had to change to red, then it worked, but I haven’t tried playing with the coding for non CCS buttons.
Just out of interest when you go into 09 the BCM, do you get MFL show up in additional control units under the sub headings?

As for the airbag loom, it will be the same, the wire in pin 5 is for cruise buttons and goes to pin 11 on the other side of the clock spring
Just having a look on partslink24 to see what PN your buttons should be.
not sure if this’ll make any difference, but the Passat MFSW I just fitted to my 2015 Euro5 Highline was from a Passat.
Same button layout. But white illumination.
Works fine.

For your buttons without cruise it looks like the number should be 2H0 959 422 ICX

When you say mfl what do you mean by that @Flyingspanner
They are fairly easy to swap out if you take your time. Check and see if it shows the part number in your scan info.
