Hello, looking for some opinions on this van

Dont pass up the right van because its manual. When I was looking, a DSG just pushed it over my budget. I was regretful at first but as I found the 6 speed manual is a nice to use gearbox. I find no hardship in changing gear myself. I drive mine regularly, but if its your daily I totally get the desire for DSG.

And as a Highline its got adaptive cruise which is a game changer in my opinion.
Agreed, it's the first thing I'd look for on any future vehicle purchase.

Has anyone come across any listings recently that caught their eye and wouldn't mind sharing? ....Budget is around the 30k mark, there is wiggle room.
A little over budget, and SWB, and a long way from you, but I spotted this beauty a few days ago when browsing. If I was in the market for a van to convert.... 🤔

Having only had autos for years I also started out looking for a DSG, but budget constraints meant I ended up with a manual. But I also have found I'm quite happy with it. That said, however, if I was in the market again I'd definitely try to find a 6 speed 150hp version - the 5 speed 110hp is a bit gutless on hills

I test drove two 110bhp 5 speed vans and found them busy at motorway speeds and had nothing left up a long motorway incline. Then immediately drove a 150bhp 6 speed and it was so much more relaxed with a lot more grunt. This is just my personal opinion, a lot of folk @Sasquatch are perfectly happy with their 5 speeder. But having driven the 150 6 speed I couldnt settle for anything else.

Thanks everyone, a lot of helpful things to look out for. I'm going to view this van this weekend, it ticks a lot of our boxes. It's a short wheelbase but looks good, MOT history isn't awful and it's local to me so I can actually have a good look around the vehicle.

Looks a high spec van, I noticed it states £22,000 inc VAT but below it states £25,000 inc VAT

Has it been converted to a Kombi ?

He has said it's £22,000, unsure why it also has the £25,000. I'm unsure on that point actually, is there a definitive way to tell, without relying on the seller to tell me?

I suspect thinking about it that he has reduced the price but forgot to edit the text in his ad. If he told you £22,000 and it states inc vat in the ad then that is that.

Sorry I meant regarding Kombi conversion.
Unfortunately the plate is not recognised. I usually use this resource as its pretty detailed. The only reason I queried is because I thought a Kombi did not come with a bench seat. I could be wrong, it does have the rear wiper though.

Yes window van means kombi and a standard kombi would come with a bench upfront and a bench in the back making it a 6 seater options were then 2 singles up front then a 2+1 in the rear or 3 singles in the rear

I've just spotted this van local to me as well, going for a viewing tonight. I see it has an advisory of an oil leak for the last year, and the price seems cheap for all it comes with. Is an oil leak a common thing with these? I guess it could be nothing, it could be the sump or could be much worse, just curious if there is a common failure point? In my golf my last MOT I had a small leak from the sump due to the gasket failing.

Crank Seal would be obviously undesirable. I guess you would need to confirm the source of the leak before parting with your hard earned £££££'s.

Just been to view and there's no obvious oil leak and he hasn't had to top it up, seems to have been relatively well maintained. Price also seems very good for its age and mileage. Think this could be the one, 5k cheaper than the other one I went to view, lacks DSG but should make it cheaper to maintain.

Looks a nice van and you will be fine with the manual. Ovano is a good system I have it in mine.
