LWB - soon to be a Camper
Excited to say we are just about to buy our dream T6.1 camper conversion.

We've been researching for around a couple of years now; the forum has been a great resource. We have been to shows, found a great converter, hired a van to try the layout etc., chosen our base van spec., and we're just about to press the 'Go' button.

As a background, growing up, my parents had a camper/caravans for years. Some years ago, my wife and I toured New Zealand for 4 weeks in a small motorhome - and loved it!, We are seasoned campers (Scout leaders), looking to make life easier as we approach retirement! We want a van we can keep on the drive, so it will be used regularly for days out, weekends away and week-long holidays. When we retire, we would look to have longer trips touring around Europe too.

Does anyone have any recommendations before we take the plunge?!?!
  • T6.1 Highline LWB 150PS DSG. Indium Grey, Two single front seats with swivel & armrests, tailgate, power latching rear & side doors, LED lights, Discover media, rear camera, heated seats (wifes request), uprated starter battery & alternator.
  • Having EcoWagon in Cornwall do their Expo+ conversion - underslung cold water, grey water & LPG gas, Eberspacher heater, California bed, CRX50 fridge, Dometic sink/hob, Votronic electrics, 1400w sine wave inverter, 250w solar, 100 amp gel leisure battery, Reimo roof with bed, Thule wind-out awning, Loc8 table, tracker, WiFi.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi and welcome. Good spec can. I would suggest a towbar or a towbar prep. I’d also talk to @CRS Performance about your suspension. We have a California and took it to him

Interested to know why towbar/towbar prep?

Have looked at VB Air suspension for comfort and self levelling ease? EcoWagon fit this too if required.

Tow bar allows this! Quite a pain to do the wiring after a conversion (unless you run it underneath!) Towbar prep at least puts in the wiring in!
Upgrade your ARBs to reduce the wallowing (especially as a conversion adds weight and raises centre of gravity)
