Hey everyone, Mark here!

Were not yet T6 owners but we have made the decision to look into purchasing one to replace both my Hyundai Ioniq and 1977 VW T2 Westfalia (with Subaru conversion).

The plan is to have the T6 for commuting to Sheffield and back (work) and use the T6 for camping / days out in The Peak District and Scotland etc.

I'm sure I will have plenty of questions coming up especially regarding insurance.

Cheers!

Thanks, I hope so! It does look great, my better half doesnt do cars but first sight she loved it.

Coming from a 1977 Westfalia to this will be a whole new experience and Scotland, more frequent :)
A 1977 ish orange T2 was what started us off, I got home from work one day and swmbo presented me with pictures of a must have 15k orange lump of pending trouble!
We hired a 6.1, did the NC500, then raided my pension pot and that was that! Don't regret it for a minute! Best purchase ever.
It's just that there is always something else to spend your money on to make it that bit betterer! Money pit central for sure, fortunately swmbo loves to spend on it too!
Try and make it to some of our forum do's, and of course take out VIP membership for £12.99 a year, potentially the second best purchase you will make!

We used ours solid from 2011 onwards, took him off the road for a restoration, Subaru conversion plus a solar system (180W panel with leisure battery and phone / camera / fridge power) and did NC500 twice, what a place!
Last year I broke my elbow in five places and life isn't the same, maintaining him is getting a chore, that combined with cheap reproduction parts made us make the leap.

It'll be sad when the T2 moves on but we know its the right move to make.

I will do my best to make a forum meet, they look good, I will do the VIP membership when payday arrives!

Any chance of pictures of your T2?! Sorry to be pushy!

I notice you refer to both your vans as "he", which is what I've always referred to my vehicles as. Most seem to refer to vehicles as "she", but I only resort to that once the relationship has soured and the vehicle has drained my wallet :sneaky:.

Definitely a he, Major the Westy! Named after The Major Oak in the heart of Nottinghamshire!

I named mine after the (male) war elephant of Hannibal fame, Surus. And, yes, my reasoning was as shallow as "it's big and it's (pure) grey, ergo it's an elephant".
