Now then folks,

My drivers heated seat has stopped working. It's the base element. I have read through some very good posts and found lots of very interesting info. What I have learned is that the OEM VW element is very expensive and a complete ripoff.

Trawling the tinternet I found these elements from Aliexpress. Just the element, no switches or wiring.

Heated Seat Element

Has anybody used aftermarket elements/kits and did they work. I have retrofitted complete sets to cars before but never integrated to original wiring.
It can't be rocket science but this is a volkswagon so thought I'd just cjheck before I cut my hands to ribbons pulling the seat base apart.

Cheers Delboy

Sorry chaps, I bottled it and ordered an oem element from the company in Eastern Europe as recommended by somebody in another thread on here. I didn't want the faff of pulling my seat apart and finding the aftermarket element didn't fit or failed in a short period of time.

Cheers for the update. I think I’ll be going the same thing to be honest!

Well done.
I wouldn't trust it for safety reasons too. When you least expect it you could find your van up in flames. Or worse your... a&*e!

I have the same, bought the oem element, how to I take the seat base/cushion off. The other thread is very detailed and helpful but omits this as no doubt it is so simple. Are there just some bolts/screws holding it on?
Cheers and good luck fitting it.

I can't remember the exact method, but can tell you when the seat is out, it's very obvious and easy to get the seat cushion off. From memory its jus 4 nuts bolts.
