After bit of advice and possibly help please.

I own a Highline LWB PV and would love to upgrade my standard headhunt to discover media unit. I was thinking to get one of eBay and then get it coded to my van (should I need to) and unlock connect app as well as voice dial button on the steering wheel.

Can any of you give me some advice on this matter and which one of you friendly lot could crack the system for connect app without having to spend a small fortune at the VW garage.

I am located in Hertfordshire, Watford.

Cheers

Can't be done, second hand won't work
Save your time and money and go talk to Jason @Absolut5 for an aftermarket headunit

Great Pauly, Thank you for a tip off, however can you explain why it can't be done? I do like kenwood headhunt you see so often at VW dealers, but can it display all the functions like parking sensor graphics, etc that you get on the OEM units?

I see @Absolut5 has even got identical van to mine, well in terms of colour, and choice of wheels. :D

Headunits are VIN coded to vehicles at the factory and cannot be transferred to different vehicles, if they are swapped all the media functions shutdown
Your only option would be a new one and they are mega bucks (circa £1500 through official channels) so aftermarket is cheaper, there are units that are compatible with factory sensors/cameras/usbs etc
@Absolut5 are the best to advise on that as they are transporter ICE specialists

Hi Guys,

I wonder if you can help, I’m going to upgrade my standard non-satnav unit to something with Nav and Apple Car Play. What does everybody recommend?

Kind Regards

Sam

We highly recommend the Kenwood dnx9190dab as it has a HD motorised reverse tilt screen to deal with glare, twin usb, cd/dvd/SD,Dab, wireless Apple CarPlay, android auto, super fast operation, Garmin nav, displays parking sensors/sat nav on mfd and the ability to connect the optional dash camera

Or the Kenwood DMX 8019dab which has wireless Apple CarPlay, android auto, twin usb, dab, parking sensor display, fixed clear screen, better then most, and the ability to connect the optional dash camera

We can supply it with all the correct parts or install it for you

Drop us a pm or call 01980 624740 and il go through it all with you

Hi - I know this has been posted a load but I’m really at a loss with what to upgrade my t6 oem stereo to. I Want built in nav, dab and car play.

I really like the oem fit of the kenwood dnx518vdabs and read a lot about sun glare. Is this really such a problem?

I don’t like the look of the DNX9180 & DNX8180 but the screen is far superior I read. I don’t like the look of the off the dash of Alpines. I guess i don’t like the non-oem stereo look.

The vw oem upgrade is crazy money and you can’t get second hand because of security code issues ?

As you can see , I’m doing my nutt in a little with this :)

Any thoughts / recommendations?

OEM headunits have been cracked now
You can either get a unit and pay circa £150 to get it unlocked/features activated or buy one already done, these seem to be around the £650-700 mark for the discover media sat nav one

Pauly. Where can you go to get this stuff done please. I googled it without luck.

I have a guy that does but dont want to post him here without speaking to him first but if required i can get units done for £150 if they are posted to me
CP delete + all functions activated (carplay/voice)

Does anybody know what extra features can be squeezed of of the 'Composition Colour' head unit in my 18 plate Highline? Looking at bits and pieces in the manual and the VW website, I think the answers 'not a lot'. It's annoying as there is a button on the MFSW for voice commands / dialling to my mobile that doesn't actually do anything - it's the one feature that I would like to add but I'm not sure it's even possible. That said, it's not something that I would want to pay £150 for either!

Has anyone fitted the alpine X803D-T6R and any reviews?

Any one help, I have a T6 Transporter 2017 Trendline, camper conversion. I want to upgrade the Head unit to include a Sat Nav function, with a wireless rear view camera. there are numerous threads relating to this on the forum for which I am very grateful, but more confused than ever! Pioneer and Kenwood keep popping up. What kind of price should I be paying and is it something I can do myself as I am reasonably handy. Is there one out there that looks similar to VW factory fitted? Any simple help etc would be appreciated.
