Just putting it out there, as i've seen that people are having issues in multiple threads about the Gen 2 LED

I see the the Phillips bulbs are causing Canbus issues with the Phillips Canbus adapter.

After a returning from a camping trip at night, i've realised i really got to sort out the poor lighting issue, even with upgraded Phillips bulbs these H4's are still poor.

If anyone has a solution for getting the Phillips Gen 2 bulbs to work without the fault light, can you let me know.

It would be much appreciated

I recently fitted a set of Travelinlite units with the Philips Gen 2 LEDS.
I have to report that the warning lamp is lit - Travelinlite say to switch out the headlamp monitoring in the software. I don't have access to this so haven't investigated - but I do need to!

I wish there was some way of sorting this, I haven't tried putting LED lamps in as I don't like the idea of having to disable the monitoring system

Can you disable the monitoring system? I'd be happy with that but there were also reports of the bulbs flashing and warnings coming on anyway.

Hopefully we do get a working solution,

i can only eat so many carrots, to help my night vision :D

Yes I am very pleased with the performance of the lights - I can now actually see when driving at night - but I have to sort out the dash light before 1st MoT.

If you have put aftermarket LEDs in I believe they are an MOT fail so yo will have to swap the bulbs also.

Hmmm...possible but lots of opinions on this. Travelinlite maintain they will pass (caveat emptor?).
I'll see what happens - but dashboard light a definite no-no.

1. New cars are fitted with LED lamps, why can I not install LED bulbs in my car’s lights to improve the looks and illumination?
New cars are fitted with LED lamps, which have been tested and pass Whole Vehicle Type Approval. Under British Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations, LEDs are not mentioned, because they were not invented, when the legislation was penned in 1989, meaning that they are not permitted at all. However, new cars fitted with LED lights are allowed to be used in the UK, because the lamps pass European / UNECE technical standards (although some of these latest LED lamps seem more dazzling to me than ever before).
Nonetheless, the ‘bulbs’ on those newer cars thus equipped, at the time of writing, cannot be renewed. If an LED module fails, the whole lamp has to be replaced.
Not only do conversion bulbs fail to comply with the aforementioned European technical standards but also fitting them ensures that your lamp will not perform as designed and will prejudice the Whole Vehicle Type Approval of your vehicle.

Hmmm...take a chance on nice Mr MoT tester .....or spend every night time drive not being able to see adequately.....?

I never really understood why (or if?) there are “nice” or “sympathetic” MOT testers though, they have absolutely nothing to gain by passing a vehicle that isn’t legal, and a lot to lose. Maybe it’s more that some of them are rushing or careless and just don’t notice some things.

Probably best to put the original bulbs back in for the MOT and then swap them afterwards. Still won’t be legal but at least you’ll have an MOT.

I'll keep an eye out on seeing if anyone resolves this Canbus issue with the Gen 2 version, before i invest in a set, we don't need a MOT here, the only time it needs on is when you sell it.
