H7 DRL bulb fault

Hi, I have an intermittent bulb warning coming up on the dash. Checking with OBD11 gives a fault as shown in the photo (and other faults that I'm not bothered about just now). Every time I check the DRLs and other lamps everything seems to be OK, even with the warning showing on the dash. The DRLs are tricky to get at and I haven't tried to get them out, or remove the whole headlight yet. Does anyone know if this could be just the bulb or am I looking at the DRL bulb holder burning issue? The H7s were second hand, I think there is a way to check whether they have the modified DRL connection but I can't seem to find it. Any pointers would be appreciated.

If they are Revision up to E, then the old holders, unless someone has wired the new ones in.

The only sure way to tell is to take out the DRL. If the holder is attached by wires, it is the new holder.

30 seconds to take it out.

And from my experience, 30 minutes to put back in!

Thanks @CAB, I put LEDs in the DRLs before I fitted the lights and can't recall whether there were wires attached. There is a sticker visible on the NS unit, I can't see a revision number labelled as such, but the part number is 7E2 941 006 G, so hopefully the 'G' is the revision number?? The date code looks to be 25.09.19, so hopefully the modified ones.

The LEDs should have lasted more than a couple of years, but if I'm going to remove the things (when I get a couple of hours or more to do it!) I think I'll get another set anyway and put them in. I'll check they work before putting them right in though :)

Yep, 'G' revision so the holders should be good.

Thanks, didn't go out in the rain to remove and refit them yesterday. Hoping it is a dodgy bulb rather than wiring/fitting, perhaps the can bus foolery has failed leading to the bulb warning as the bulb still illuminates. If I can find the bulbs I took out I may try it with those, and ignore the yellow look against the rest of the nearer white bulbs/LEDs.

The converter put additional LED light strips in the 'sportline' bumper he fitted but they aren't strictly DRLs and are not controlled by the lighting switches, and we don't like the mismatch between those and standard halogens. As ever, so much work, expense, and sometimes skin and blood, goes into little cosmetic things!
