Not much to this once you've removed the passenger seat (twin seat instructions here) and the driver's seat.

However, the handbrake cable goes through a hole in the mat, so you have to disconnect the handbrake completely. First, remove it from the driver's seat - instructions in here,

Remove the nyloc nut from the cable rod, noting the position for later.

Starting from a b-pillar, lift the rubber mat [my goodness this van is dirty!]

Feed the cables through the holes and gently pull each side of the mat from under the door steps.

Pull the mat out from right up to the top of the wheel arches, then work your way across the front of the van.

In spite of the holes, it doesn't seem to be hooked over anything under the lower dash (?)

This is my job for the weekend and as usual this forum comes up trumps. It all started with seat covers which are easer to fit when the seats are removed. Then I saw the muck with the seats out so now it's flooring out too. Now if the floor's coming out I may as well add some sound deadening. Funny how a 20 minute job ends up with the van in bits for the weekend. :think smile bounce:

When the flooring goes back does it tuck back under the trims like the steps and side pillars easily?

Yes, but if you are doing sound deadening you may as well do under the step and then put it back on last, well... before the B-pillar, which might escalate to cab roof insulation... :slow rofl:

Thanks for sharing @Dellmassive. The images really help a numpty like me, and i wouldn't have been able to completely sound deaden and insulate the rear of my Kombi this weekend, if it wasn't for this forum. I'm planning to go into the front now and do the same in the cab, so this thread is absolutely priceless. I just need to read the guidance on removing the front seats now..... that jobs freaks me out for some reason.

I have to say that the whole process of sound deadening/ insulating the T6 is extremely cathartic, especially with all the cleaning that has to be completed, but my word, I couldn't believe how much much was under the flooring..... i thought our kombi was super-clean!!!

A very useful thread....thank you!

I have wear holes under my pedals and managed to source a mint OE mat......when refitting will i need any contact adhesive or is the mat kept in place my the seat bases and step trims

It’s kept in place by the seat bases and it’s moulded shape, no adhesive is used.
Top tip, when you put it back make sure you tuck it under the accelerator pedal. It’s quite annoying when you finish the whole refit and reinstall the lower dash trim and then realise you have no accelerator pedal.
We definitely didn’t do that yesterday. Nope. No way, not us.
