Glowplugs

Hi All,

I’ve recently read somewhere that glow plugs on the Transporters are only good for 100,000 miles. I’m on 126k and not had any starting issues etc but has anyone changed theirs as part of pre-emptive maintenance.

This is interesting, I had no idea they had a replace by date.

I have a fault on my glow plug on injector 1 and the reputable VW specialist independant garage I went to for getting it sorted (on Friday) said the factory don't put any lube or anything in when the glow plugs go in so they can be prone to seizing, requiring machining out so there may be additional costs to any works with long established glow plugs..

Also it's quite a lot of work getting to them to change them from what I've seen on YT - more than I'm capable of doing anyway

Im not sure they do to be honest…..just something I read somewhere in the last few days.

Be interesting to find out…I’d like to put many more miles on and get another 4 years out of the van so just want it tip top
