VW towbar wiring kit DIY issues.

help required please! IM GOING DEMENTED .
Has anyone fitted a genuine VW 13 pin wiring kit to a T6 Kombi?
In the wiring kit instructions it tells you to terminate some of the wires in the fusebox located under the passenger seat.
i dont have a fusebox under the passenger seat!
i have the cage where the fusebox should be ,but definitely no fusebox.
I also have a few unused wires heavily taped up ? im guessing they would probably go to the fusebox, if i had one?
I am wary to go any further in case i damage the BCM or something.
My supplying VW dealer say they cannot help me.
Thanks in advance
Lawrie

The main bunch of cables come up through the van floor to under the passenger seat, my towbar fitter then joined onto the main feed under the seat (that is taped up) and used this to feed a small block of four fuses, three of them fed three wires in the loom and the fourth fed the timer box
There are then an additional couple of cables that ran from the towbar loom from under passenger seat, under cab floor and come up behind dash somewhere but not sure where they terminate
Mine has been altered quite a bit but heres a couple of pictures showing the bits

thanks for the info and the pictures.
wish i had went for a westfalia wiring kit now., Thought i was doing the right thing by buying genuine VW kit.
I have had it to two different auto electricians who wont touch it.

Haven't got any pics but will try and get some tomorrow oem wiring, connected under bonnet, under passenger seat and to lighting switch

The kit i got supplied by my local TPS goes from towbar up through n/s/r quarter panel
Then up past lamp assy , along roof, down B pillar. connects under passenger seat.
The relays supplied with the kit are then mounted under drivers seat, the harness then runs under front carpet to fuse box.
then along to the BCM then finally along to the light switch.
Its where to connect the part of the harness under the passenger seat thats confusing me, because my Kombi does not have the fuse box, the instructions are telling me to connect the wires to!
I dont have the confidence or experience to just try and connect them to the loose harness wires that are unused under the seat

I have the 'Right Connections' wiring loom that was supplied by PF Jones with my Westfalia towbar. In the instructions for that it indicates that if you have the light switch with the small connection plug and socket then there is no connection below the left front seat. The loom has three wires coming to that location but you simply connect the White & Grey/White wires together and insulate the Black wire then tape it back against the loom.
That is how my T6 with LED lights is.

If you have a light switch with the large plug & socket then you will have connections under the left front seat. There are instructions on which wire to the light blue connection plug to cut and intercept with two wires from the new loom.

Yes i have the same one just fitted :)

hi guys
Thanks for all the help and advice.

I was getting nowhere with the wiring so i booked my van into my local independent VW specialist for him to
finish off connecting the 13 pin towbar harness behind the dash and coding the wiring into the ecu.

Dropped it off on wednesday at 8am and got it back monday morning with a bill for £294 for labour.
That puts the cost of the wiring well over £500 inc the genuine wiring kit from TPS.

He said he had to fit the missing fusebox under the passenger seat and wire it up behind the dash.

Is it just me, or have VW electrics just got absolutely ridiculous ?
It is just a working van after all.

Your vw dealership is wrong, there is a additional fuse box available from vw for £29 plus vat and takes 5 mins to fit. I've done 6 vw t6 towbar wiring kits and the cheapest is from Vw ph jones was more expensive.
I will get the part number and post up for future peeps doing them.

I'm now about to wire 7 pin light socket in t6 I did my T5 which was easy but had to run battery live under van to rear which was a pain

I am fitting a VW tow bar wiring loom for the T6 blue motion the instructions are a bit poor, can anyone advise where the cable connects into the fuse box. The wiring up until the dashboard is completed including the additional fuse box added under the passenger seat. If anyone has clearer instructions can you please send them.

There are three feeds that go into the new empty fuse box you have installed under passenger seat all permanent 12 volts, assuming the wiring loom is the Westfalia one, just pick three empty fuse slots together if that makes sense.

Just been into Indespension, westfalia removable bar, vehicle specific wiring kit (7pin) £520 and with 10% off Thule bike racks if buying the installation. Sure as heck not going to try a diy on these electrics!!!

£520 just for the parts ?
I paid less than that for supply and fit !

I have the cables connected to the fuse box under the seat, I am looking for info on the vehicles fuse box, on the instructions it states Terminal 15 or chamber 22, I am assuming that the reference is to fuse number 22 which has a 5amp fuse in it as I can't find any reference to terminal 15 on the fuse box. Has anyone fitted the VW wiring loom who can advise please.
