Fridge Fusing Using 12v Dash Socket

Hi folks,

Does anyone know the max load of the 12v socket (I only have one socket next to gear stick)?

I have a Waeco TROPICOOL Classic TC-21FL (it's 12years old, there is a similar one by Dometic now) and if I plug it in to my T6 it fuses the 15amp fuse...

According to the data sheet, it pulls on average 60watts on 12volts... so should be ~5amps.

Why is it fusing?

(It works fine on my T2 camper)

Startup surge?
Can you plug it in switched off and it not blow? And then blows when you turn it on?

65watts is fine, think you go up to 90watts odd on that socket.

so as @Loz says it must be drawing a big startup surge blowing the fuse.

the only way of knowing for sure is to use a DC clamp meter and connecting the fridge up to a "socket-battery clamps" adapter and metering out the power the fridge is trying to pull.

have a look at this meter . . .

Thanks @Loz and @Dellmassive
I will get a clamp meter (I could do with one anyway) and meter the power

(I only intend to use the Waeco between now and when I convert so not a biggie if i can't easily solve...)
