Found One!

Hi all 👋.

Managed to find myself a Van, woohoo!

It's a 2021 150PS DSG Kombi Highline with Leather Seats and 60k on the clock. Full VWSH and was used by a Solar panel company before I took ownership, who traded it in for a Isuzu truck (what a wally hehe). It ticked a good chunk of my boxes so went for it - cost me £27k, which I think is fair?
  1. FVWSH
  2. LWB
  3. DSG
  4. Tow Bar
  5. Tail-gate

Had to take a flight to pick it up, but I think it'll do us great as a family of 4 when we adventure around the UK and afar. I am going to have lots of questions, but suspect most will have been answered already so the forum will be my new bed-time routine :thumbsup:.

Plan is to, over the next 18 months;

- Get a rear pop-top installed
- Look at a bottom-half wrap, the wife likes a blue or potentially orange (I'm more the latter I think) to personalise it, and perhaps some stickers!
- Pick up electrics and figure that out
- Find a suitably configured kitchen kit
- Figure out what the best awning would be to get, and have the necessary installed to accommodate.
- Swivel for drivers seat
- Shall replace the tyres as the garage popped pretty cheap ones onto it
- May get it lowered a fraction, but will see how it looks once it got more stuff in it
- I've already started ordering rubber this and that for inserts lol
Looking forward to many years frequenting these forms :mexican wave:.

P.S. Thanks to @Badjamin and others for their advice 🫡.

Cheers.

That's a great find at that price and spec. There are so many vans around with dreamers still wanting top dollar for 9 year old vans with 150k miles and dodgy conversions. Yours shows that the right van at the right price will sell.
Enjoy, exciting times ahead

Thanks - I did have to fly to NI to collect it, so another £300/400, but it was a mini-adventure in itself!

A couple of others things I've remembered;

1. There is a dent in the sill on the driver side, where I presume someone used a jack incorrectly, so shall need to get that sorted at a bodyshop
2. There's also an Inverter under the driver seat, so presume that was for a Tool or Laptop, so also need to figure out if that's connected to the car battery (I presume so, but still learning), then figure out what to do with it.

P.S. is the paint code somewhere specific on T6.1's? I thought I'd found it, but it doesn't seem to be a colour :D . I just presumed it was Candy White, but should probably find a code!

Cracking looking van! Lot of can for the money! Enjoy and get out using it. One thing is don’t worry too much about getting it “perfect” or ready for trips.
Just get out and use it, you will soon see what works for you best and may even change your mind on what you thought we must haves!
Two tone would look great! 😎

There have been several posts on here regarding similar minor sill damage recently.
Try this one for starters;

Congrats @eclipse on your purchase. Can't believe you name dropped me haha - the first thing that came to mind was 'don't blame me!'

It looks like an absolute belter! just needs lowering and those roof bars need removing!

DO NOT spend £10k on it in the next 5 months.... :whistle:

If its got an inverter you might be lucky and find a factory leisure battery !
Unfortunately not - although there is a Maypole MP56150 1500W Inverter under the drivers seat, it's connected directly up to the van battery. Oh well, could still come in handy, although I need to check if it holds charge, or if I can only use it when the engine is running 🤔.

Yes, I will remove the bars (when I locate the right sized hex key and the same for the bars, but presume I'll need to get some plugs/covers for the resulting holes. I may wait ref the lowering until I'll filled the rear up a little....

You should heavliy seal the holes with sikaflex or similar before fitting blanking bolts
