Finally having to say goodbye to my dream camper - kids growing up and not getting the use out of it any longer sadly.
We bought this in 2019 and have used it for camping, long trips and as our 2nd car. It can do any of those tasks happily and only has 38,000 miles on it with full VW service history.
Where to start with the mods?! It has been a real enthusiasts' vehicle so there's probably stuff I've forgotten but here goes.
1. Base van is the 2017 VW Highline T28 (Diesel).
150bhp Euro 6 engine
DSG automatic gearbox
Air conditioning
Cruise control
Rear parking sensors
Multi-function steering wheel
Note this includes cruise control and AC which are both a lifesaver on long journeys and on Summer trips.
2. Conversion
Stunning conversion undertaken in 2019 by professional converters North West Dubs in Liverpool.
Fully insulated and soundproofed
Planer diesel heater with aftermarket quieter pump and remote programming (can turn it on using your phone so the van is warm when you get there)
Pop Top elevating roof with panoramic windows/vents , so it can be unzipped from the frame - great for warm nights under the stars.
Bench style swivel seat - this spins to create a fantastic 2 + 2 living room (Driver seat fixed)
Rusty Lee Rock & roll bed
Suede inserts throughout and on interior ceiling
Custom floor mats in cabin
Wooden floors in rear
Custom design sliding table (cool visuals)
Rothmans racing theme custom design seats
Under sink storage and large storage locker to rear
Blackout internally fitted blinds to side windows
3. Fully fitted kitchen unit with:
Sink & onboard water system
2-burner hob (with gas locker and vent)
12v electric fridge
Leisure battery with split-charge system
240v hook-up (for kettle and toaster!)
Premium wooden worktop
4. External Mods
Upgraded suspension system fitted by CRS Performance (leading V6 specialist)
Koni springs - drives like a car after these were fitted and lowered 50mm so it looks fantastic
Wolfrace Alloys - black gloss
Black gloss Sidebars (awaiting replacement but these are included - see further below)
Sprayed Blue Brake Calipers to match pop top and seat design
Chrome finishing touches to windows and handles
Chrome footplates (shown on pics)
5. Things to know (honesty section)
The van is in immaculate condition and has been lovingly cared for - anything that needs replacement hasn't been skimped on.
BUT
Currently the side bars are slightly corroded and awaiting replacement as is the shark fin at the front of the pop top. These have both been purchased and will come with the van.
If the van isn't sold by Mid July the van will come with the brand new sidebars and shark fin installed, if it isn't then I will knock £350 off the price which is what it is costing me to have them fitted.
These vans are noisy - sometimes the roof vibrates over potholes or things move in the cupboards, they aren't Range Rovers!
