After recent surgeries I have concluded that my days of front pointing up vertical ice are past so for sale 2 ice climbing axes DMM Fly adze and hammer 50 cm with leashes. Good condition have never been used “dry tooling “. Current equivalent DMM Apex £199 each so asking £80 for pair, collection from Fife or can ship plus the cost. ( Mrs Vanderlust more than happy at my decision for some reason).

Know what you mean my first walking axe was wooden shafted , the use of metal pioneered by the climbing genius Hamish MacInnes. The very latest designs make mine a bit dated with hand guards, cranked shafts etc. but they worked well. (fortunately I should add).
