Fixing Curtain Track

Hi All

I won't to fix a curtain track behind the front row of seats , i have one from my old T5 and it was fixed to the thin roof lining.
Just want to know if there is a more secure way of doing this as it started to pull the lining and the joining cover was pulling away a bit.

Cheers

Depends how heavy the curtain is - there isn’t much there to take the weight, unless you go past the liner and into the metal beam that is behind it.

Is the curtain there to block light ? If so could you put up a curtain on the inside of the windscreen?

Hi Pete

I use the van for work most the time when it’s just me in it I have the curtain closed as it helps to keep any dust out , keeps noise down and quicker to heat or cool etc.
The curtains are heavy ones bought from v dubs .

Cheers

Ok. We have a very lightweight pertex “curtain” which we can put behind the seats. It is homemade, but to be honest we have never used it. We made it because we thought the air con might struggle in our camper abroad.

It is just a piece of pertex from eBay, cut to fit the gap, with thin but high power magnets put into sewn pockets around the edge. These attract themselves to the metalwork around the sides of the van behind the seats.
There is no metalwork over the top, so I slid similar magnets under the plastic joiner strip above the seats, and the magnets in the curtain stick themselves to these.

It seems to work ok when we tried it on the drive, but have never used it in anger.

If you want proper curtains then you probably will have to remove the joiner strip in the roof, and find a way of drilling into the metal beam that the strip attaches to.

Yes , think im going to take the trim down and see if there is a way of getting a solid fixing , im not to keen on screwing into the metal though might try and stick a couple of ply strips in between the ridges then fix to them.
Does that joining trim just pop off?
cheers

Yes, it just pops off, but the fixings wear out very quickly, so beware removing too many times.

Hi Pete , do i need to remove the pilers to take that trim off as the trim is on top of the pillars both sides?

I need to have a look at our van - will look tomorrow in the daylight.
