Fitting centre-caps to Navis Holey 19" Steels

Here's a couple of picture of my Navis Holeys 19" steels I've just fitted in Anthracite, these are running on 255/45 R19 on all wheels, the rears have a nice little stretch looked

I am after some help though on fitting the VW centre caps to them, I have seen them on Transporter HQ at around £32 each but is says you need to trim 6mm of them, anyone done this? What's the best way of doing this?

ThanksIMG_20220218_162208.jpgIMG_20220218_155114.jpgIMG_20220218_155111.jpg

Yes I've done it.
I tried several methods but found a die-grinder with a burr removal bit to work the best. Anything else I tried, just heated up the plastic and it clogged up the tool.

Just a quick update on this Feb 2022 Transporter HQ have said they are expecting their own Centre Caps to be ready in around 6 weeks with their Navis logo on them although you can put over a VW sticker if you want after market. Just in case anyone else is wondering if it is worth waiting or doing what @Tourershine suggests

@Oscar-t6 did you get the caps sorted in the end? I’m thinking about a set of 19” Navis steeels for winter as I have a full set of near new cross climates but I can’t decide which version to go for.

Am doing it today funnily enough I've brought a burr tool only around £8 on Amazon and ordered these from transporter hq just figuring out how to take 6mm off.......where's that compass!

The ’best way’ would be to use a lathe, correct tool for the job!

Be interested to see some pics assuming you keep all your fingers today!
Just done the first one and the main thing I would say is this is not a 5 minute job, it's taken about an hour and a half to just do one wheel. I changed how I was doing it a number of times and eventually put the drill in a clamp and some sponge under the centre cap to allow me to press it down and onto the burr drill bit.

Kept marking 6mm and cutting and marking and so on, the good news is 6mm is right it does fit on the navis wheel now but I am not convinced a run down the motorway and they will stay on but let's see!

Success but at a cost of time and sore fingers.......a £30k lathe no doubt would be much quicker!!

Hope this helps took a few pictures of the journey!

Using a suitable size hole saw cut a plywood disc that will allow the centre cap to be centrally attached with screws through the cap holes.
Put a bolt through the centre hole of the plywood disc and lock it very tight with a lock nut or double nut.
Mount the bolt in a drill press or a secured portable drill.
Make sure the assembly is running true, concentric and fairly well balanced.
Use a suitable blade, chisel, file etc carefully reduce the diameter with the assembly turning - home made lathe, costs bugger all but be careful!

My last update on this thread - as feared a run up the M5 the weekend and both have come out the wheels - it really is a waste of time and money this, I am going to check Navis's website to see if they have something ready made unless @Radford1071s can help?

Looks like there is an OEM option, £34 per cap seems pricey.
