Fault codes on a potential purchase

Hi All,

Can someone please educate me on the seriousness of these fault codes? They’re on a VW used approved van I’m looking at, a 2017 plate 204ps 4 motion with 40k miles. The dealer says the van was allowed to get to zero miles left on the fuel and that’s what caused the problems, I’m not convinced.

Thanks

Quite possible - fuel low warning dash light inhibits DPF regenerations - leading to excessive soot accumulation in DPF.
Did they manage to clear the fault by running Service regeneration Particle filter (as about to run on the picture)?

The other two are not related to low fuel.

Great knowledge, thanks. Is the EGR fault part of the same problem? I made it 200 yards on the test drive before the glow plug light started flashing and it went into limp mode. I’m going again on Monday, they started the forced regen as I was leaving.

Good advice, I just don’t want to walk away if it isn’t a problem. My choice is between a 17 plate 204ps 40k miles or a 19 plate 150 with 27k miles. Same price.

I also noticed the 204ps rpm / speedo does the dial sweep when the ignition is turned on. One previous owner and apparently he claims he hasn’t made any software adjustments via VCDS. Given that’s not a standard thing on the T6 I’m wondering what other things he’s done to the van. It’s a great spec though.

The needle sweep can be done with Carista

This van didn't have any EGR fault?

Do you mean the notorious code P0401 - Insufficient flow - which has been rumbled on around our forum? No, it's a separate issue - and doesn't cause limp mode. Good thing is the EGR (cooler) can be even diagnosed/measured well before the actual code surfaces.

The top code on the photo,

GX5 - Exhaust gas recirculation valve 1

It’s highlighted so a little difficult to read.

Ahhh... would need more details... the actual code.
On my I have seen two EGR valve related codes come and go occasionally for three years - without causing any issues, dash lights or limp mode.

I'd say dial sweep was on from factory on MY17. Instrument cluster is different on MY19 - they look the same but the inside is different.
