Hi all, my 6yr old factory leisure battery is on last legs, 12.4v after an hour driving and 11.7v after the parking heater shut off unexpectedly
. Prob due to the dead battery.

As its under my drivers seat I want to swap it on 1 go. Anyone got the specs or part number so I can pre orde. Lithium not needed, park heater runs for 30 mins max so not a huge discharge state.

loads of options for you.

OEM battery can be seen here:

Cheers! 278mm long, 190 high, 175 wide.

My battery has a big rubber cover over it so I can't see any part numbers, moving the seat doesn't give me any additional access to lift the cover either. It's under the drivers seat as I'm LHD.

Strangely some sites list it as 315 long.

A proper dc dc charger wouldnt be bad but it's very very rarely used as a camper and I have a victron charger/ power supply unit I can hook upto it if needed at the camp site. Will check out your guides and see.

I'm into minus figures, definitely below 5c for winter period so lithium not much use to me so looks like lead acid /agm etc it is .

Have a look at the self heating lithium batteries over on my thread.

They operate fully down to -20C or below.

FYI using lithium below zero is not a problem the only issue is charging them below zero.

So if you keep the battery inside the van the assumption would be that the temperature would be above 0 anyway.

And most modern lithium have built-in protection that block the charge power until the battery temperature rises above 0 so that again self protecting.

Hi - dumb question time

I have a factory fitted leisure battery under the front passenger seat which was part of the factory fitted heater - it's a bit asthmatic 70ah but I want to run my alpicool fridge off it

Can I simply swap a new battery like this in or is it not that simple

Renogy 12V 100Ah LifePO4 Lithium Battery Over 4000 Deep Cycles, Leisure Battery with BMS and IP54, Smart Rechargeable Battery Series Ideal Backup Power for RV, Boat, Golf Carts, Solar Panel System https://amzn.eu/d/ddqHN7q

Good choice to move to LiFePo but second the need for a DC-DC charger, directly connecting you starter battery Lead Acid and a LiFePo with the existing relay is going to end up in poor performance and limited life of both batteries at best, or more significant damage due to the high current flows.

Lot's of threads on popular choices, the good thing is with the factory relay you already have the charge signal wire in place.

@r00ps posted the other day a walk through of upgrading the relay in a factory install to a CTEK DC-DC charger. In that case it's still an AGM battery but the CTEK is lithium capable and might give you some ideas:
