Excessive health check!

Thought I'd just see if anyone else had got an excessive health check quote from VW??

Took mine in Thursday for a DSG fluid change and whilst in asked them to do a glow plug as it had been causing and EML light.

First annoying thing was they charged £210 for the glowplug after saying it would be £150ish, apparently the chargecooler pipes are "one use only" so needed 2 pipes!

Anyway, had a 5min plus health check video and 11 page quote totaling nearly £9k!!
Some stupid stuff on there and some stuff I know about but here's a few items that are really overpriced.

1 gallon adblue £97.
Start stop error (ghost makes it come up) £224 to investigate.
Front and rear discs and pads £1100

Anyone else had any ridiculous ones?

For context the van is a 2016 with 58k on it and passed an MOT last week without any advisories and was serviced at a VW spealist the week prior and they said it was fine and flagged nothing significant.

That’s disgraceful

They can't be short of work going by the time it takes to book a service these days, but that's just taking the piss.

The thing with dealers is that they try to get you to keep the vehicle as new, whereas your independent will spot something that may need attention and suggest keeping an eye on it.

I'm amazed at how gullible people can be at the dealers. I've been sitting in the dealers drinking all the coffee I can cope with and filling my pockets with biscuits when the service man comes out and tells a little old lady that her brakes are 40% worn. They will kindly replace them whilst they've got it in to save her having to come back. She's so pleased at his kindness that she doesn't even think that 40% worn means 60% left or question the price.

Show us the rest of the list! Quite incredible 9k quotation!
It's 11 pages lol

It's as said above, basically putting the car back to new.

Cracked undertrays, no history's of XYZ so quoted for it all, even though it's been done.

Biggest cost was fly wheel noisy £2100+

4 new tyres £1100
Tracking £223

Got an ATS reports from a week earlier showing the worst tyre was 5mm!

Too much coolant £100
Too little brake fluid £100

2 seat belts starting to fray £400 each
Cambelt and waterpump £716 (done 2 years ago)
Aircon sanitize £125
Mirror glass x2 not heating up enough £160
Wheel arch liner cracked £130
Engine mount cracked £97
Driver and passenger door seals look perished £400
2 undertrays at £200 each
Clip for brake pad sensor broken £153
Eml light on dash £125

Labour was £3600, they offered 9 months 0% finance and if I got it done with them and a discount!

To be fair it does need a set of brakes on it, was quoted £460 by ATS for discs and pads all round.

Lots of the labour seems duplicated, eml was on due to glowplug and start stop is because I put ghost in service mode. So that's best part of £500!

I did ask them to put new software on as per the recall for the P20EE fault and mine was on original software, I was told it's not needed, I said I'd pay for it and that was ignored too!

Van hasn't been to VW since 2019, it was a company van that was in house serviced from new to 2019, then it had a VW service then back to Indi's till I took it in last week.

It was due a recall on the timing but they said it had been done but yet said it needed one on the quote.

I sent onto CS to say how many older people are being taken advantage of, they seemed quite interested in speaking to me about it Friday and asked if I would speak to the business manager Monday, not sure I will though as it's just what they do.

I'll try and get the health check onto a YouTube vid

Wow! Surprised by the parts price. Everything has almost doubled over the last 12 months so that is what we Should expect to pay going forwards (parts).
Labour rate was 115 per in July at my main dealer when they have replaced under warranty one cracked spring. I have asked them to replace the opposite at my cost since my old T5 broke the opposite spring just a few weeks later.
What is the hourly rate quoted?

Looks like £114 plus vat per hour according to the quote so over £130 per hour which is crazy

Not sure who is paying that money per hour . I bet most of the T6 are on a service plan. However once the van is in and there is additional work to be done that’s where the hit your wallet…
Booked my service 20th of November. First date available 28th of December. They have got plenty of work despite what they charge.

I've just been invited for a 34 point FREE health check straight in the deleted mail
you just know your getting your pants pulled down
@Jonwm why not get fluid change and glow plug done at vw specialist like the service and MOT

I was going to get the plug done at the specialist, but it's 20 mile away and I do while you wait when I go, the price for for the dsg change was the same for the dealer as the specialist and they need to be cold apparently to do it, the dealer is by my work so dropped it in and went in the office, I told them I'd been quoted £130 for the glow plug and if they could match it I'd just get it done whilst it was in rather than go to my normal place just for that. When he said £150 I though for £20 just get it done!
