Egr problem

Hello
I have just changed my egr valve (about 1000km since) and since that my glow plug lamp and engine lamp keeps flashing 1-3 times a day. What can be the problem?

yes i did adapt it when i installed it. I must use the vcds to regen the dpf now because it doesent regen by it self after the egr swap

The ECU must think it's too clogged to safely Regen.

See if you can get some DPF data.

My guess is that it won't regen because of unreliable signal from the EGR position sensor.

Perhaps you could run engine's built-in diagnostics to verfiy that EGR valve actually does it's sweep? A wiring issue perhaps?

So, I've been getting the all too common P046C fault code along with P2457 (Insufficient EGR Cooling Performance). Neither alone will flag a check engine light but combined they sometimes seem to. To try to figure out what is going on, I ran an EGR Flow test on VCDS using instruction from @mmi on this rather excellent page:

Here are the plots - well, consistent with plots engine running. The EGR valve does not move correctly, even got stuck for a couple of seconds (e.g. from 18 to 32 seconds).

Also it seems that the DPF doesn't clear very well any more. In the blockmap engine running was indicated fairly high pressure across the DPF. Would have expected to be no more than 15 mbar at these conditions.

Yes it was a non genuine egr valve. I have now cleaned and flushed the old original egr valve, and installer it again but im still getting the flashing glow lamp and limp mode. Someone suggested that mightbe the DPFE could be bad. Does that sound right?
