Eberspacher heater high altitude kit

I'm looking at purchasing the eberspacher D2 heater, i'll be using the van for a couple of months in the alps this winter at an altitude of 1550m. From what i've read the heater should work ok up to 1500m and its recommend you get the high altitude kit for any use above this. Has anyone used the heater without the high altitude kit around this altitude before and experienced any problems? Not sure if its worth buying or not.

Thanks

1550 is 200m above the height of Ben Nevis and 500 above Chamonix town, the air is technically thinner there but I would imagine it would work ok.

Air at altitude only really becomes hard work to walk above 3500m so I wouldn’t buy it. Do you know what is actually involved in the kit? Probably a Venturi duct to compress the air even more?

@drew_greenday From what i've read it reduces the fuel that gets pumped in as less is required at higher altitudes, stops the filter getting clogged up.

@mmi Yes, those are the ones we've been looking at, thanks.
