DVLA taxation class

Hi I’m looking to buy a camper and the issue of Light goods vehicle or camper van classification seems be a mine field. Can anyone advice if the finished camper van is classified on the V5 as light goods vehicle, is it a problem if I buy it.

Much discussion has taken place over the years regarding the status of vans & conversions with regard to speed limits/tax/insurance etc. There's a wealth of info on the forum - particularly this thread - but it's scattered and fragmented around the forum. So I thought I'd bring it all together...

The only way to tell is to read the V5 and see what it says, you can't predict or pre empt it.

Anything built post 2019 unlikely to be a 'motorcaravan' unless constructed from new by one of the few accredited converters (mine is of of the few.)

Issues arising from the taxation class regarding VED costs, insurance, speed limits, attractiveness to the opposite sex, etc, are many and have been widely discussed hereabouts so a forum search would be worth doing.
