Hi
I took a 180 DSG 13 plate done 55000 for a test drive sat at traffic lights in drive with foot on the brake lights changed took my foot off the brake and it moved forward slightly is this normal with the DSG gearbox

Yes perfectly normal. Caught me out too as I had previously been driving a BMW DCT which doesn't move even when in gear until you touch the throttle.

Yeah - our T6 DSG is different from our VW car DSG exactly as you say - I've ended up turning the auto-hold off in the car so that I don't get caught out in the van .. - i.e. as soon as you release the brake it "idles" in whichever direction is drive. (the car (golf SV 2015 MY) would require a nudge of the throttle to start moving).

I've got a feeling my van doesnt move until I touch the throttle. Mind you the it does a few different things. Im Im in a row of traffic and the car in front pulls away, that starts my engine. If I come to a stop gently, the engine doesnt shut down.
I've forgotten exactly how I do it but if Im waiting at the front of a queue at the lights or for example at a road junction with the engine off (I think it is) if I release the brake almost all the way in preparation to set off the engine starts, but the van does no move, ready for me to hit the accelerator. It seems a lot more intelligent that the last DSG I drove.

Yes when I’m waiting in a queue and the engine stops i only have to slightly ease off the brakes and it re starts. Also if I engage D or R the engine revs pick up slightly when i take my foot off the brake pedal and then it creeps forward. New T6.1 by the way

I've adapted to use just enough brake pedal pressure to stop and hold it still, but not activate the stop start.

@Skyliner33 the engine starting as the car in front moves away is part of the ACC system. Even if you are not using it at the time, that feature is always active.

I have thought about stopping like that all the time, however I believe that it does not disengage the clutch fully and can cause premature wear.
