Drl’s On With Headlights?

Just wondered if it possible to have the DRL’s on constantly even when the dipped beam is on?
Is it something that can be coded with VCDS?
Thanks.

I think it's a regulatory requirement that they switch off when headlight are switched on.

It is possible as it happened when I entered the wrong coding for my LED rear lights on a Mk6 Golf. I'm not sure why you'd want to do it tho'.

Won't help with H4s, I tried it ages ago when I put LEDs in them. They're low wattage and the reflector is designed for maximum scatter. They're designed to be seen rather than to see with.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but did anyone manage this? I'm in the same position, DRLs are brighter than the dipped haha

It’s likely doable but it won’t help you see any better. All it will do is dazzle other drivers and likely fail the MOT. The DRLs spread the beam to help you be seen rather than see by. DRLs should either go off when the lights are put on or dim from 20w to 5w (equivalent for LED) so as not to dazzle. If you want better lights I’d recommend swapping the headlights to the H7 versions (see the big thread on here).
