Dealer recommendations?

I've had my Highline for about six months, and am now ready to have a few things added.
I'm going to start with 18" wheels... either Springfields or the older style Sportline (T5?) ones,
30mm lowering and side pipes/bar thingies!

Anyway.... I want to get this done at a VW dealers
My nearest is Reading (Berks.) My wife's Golf came from there.... never call back!
My van came from Guildford, I'm going to ring in the week, but not holding out too much hope.

The question is...are Dealers interested in doing this type of thing? and if so...
can anyone recommend a dealer, a reasonable distance from me?

I would have thought you could find someone other than main dealer to do those bits and probably a lot cheaper .

I'd have to agree with carlg, you could definitely find someone better (and cheaper) than a dealer to do this work.

For starters the wheels can be found much cheaper elsewhere and they will carry exactly the same warranty as they would if they were fitted by VW. The genuine VW side bars (model dependent) are also much cheaper elsewhere. I think VW want about £400 for the standard round black or chrome side bars that can be found for bout £120 at places like vanstyle.......and if you use the recommended eibach 30mm springs that VW use there should be no reason for the dealer to refuse any future warranty claim. In terms of fitting, everything you have listed is very easy to do and most decent garages could do it ,without it having any impact on your warranty. All in you would save yourself a huge amount of money!!

Thanks for the replies.
It is the warranty that is the concern, all of my knowledge is basically coming from this forum and it comes up time and again.

Give me a call. We're based in Bognor Regis, and have a fully equipped 8 bay workshop. We can carry out all modifications to Transporters. We also offer courtesy vans if that helps.

Bit despondent to say the least, I'm getting nowhere with this!
I've been on to VW UK to get their advice and that was pretty futile. I thought I would get a recommendation to a dealer that was used to carrying out this type of work.
One dealer in Newbury said they could supply the windows but not fit due there being cutting involved!

I work for myself & would have been out of business years ago if.....

I need to keep the van as a van, was just going to change the look a bit that's all.
I'm obviously barking up the wrong one and expecting too much, I'll have to have a re-think or wait for the warranty to expire!

I don't see your problem. All the work you want doing won't effect the VW warranty, if done at a decent garage ,and an awful lot cheaper.

Forget VW. Take Bognor up on the offer - they see more transporters than any main dealer would. Workmanship at VW is truly awful and I wouldn't trust them with a skateboard let alone a 35k van.

Yeah, I realise it's me, I'll ring BM and get some advice. Thanks.
