Does it need a negative input connection too for it to fully function? Unless the input and output neg are internally connected anyway, just wondering though as it’s isolated?

Can you show us a picture of the instructions please.

Pete

I do need to say im not pointing fingers
im looking to check if I've missed something
Or if the unit may be faulty
I have PM,d travelvolts 20200717_095318.jpg

Yes engine running and showing a charge on a little display monitor
Im going to check the little wire for power

most of the way through converting my Nissan Primastar into a camper. I bought an ablemail battery to battery charger. . I am aware that it needs a sense lead from positive terminal to the charger. It says i need a sense fuse as well. Could you possibly tell where to get one of these? has anyone else had to do this?

the orion is an isolated box.

you need TWO earth connections . . . the input one and the output one. both can go to the same chassis point.

heres my install . . .

because this unit is "isolated" the in/out ground feeds need there own cable, so i just run both to a ground block . . .

there was no mention of the input earth in the instructions and not being electrically biased i was at a bit of a loss
so after i read your thread i ran a earth from the input side and all is well
i must say i was a little disappointed with the bluetooth range but pleased with how it all turned out

BT range depends on the installed location and type of phone.

mine was installed in the double bench seat base, which was effectively a sealed metal box so had poor range.

the range increased when the bench top was open lol.....

got some pics of your install?

pic is at the top of the thread , its in a cupboard at back of van and the 240v charger is also close by at the rear
with the leasure battery below above the wheel arch
phone is galaxy s10

Don’t forget you are mounting the controller in a largely sealed metal box (a van) which radio waves will struggle to get through. And bluetooth range will be limited also by the need for the controller to not consume too much power. My Victron devices work a few metres from the van, with an iPhone, which is fine by me.

Please be aware that we only sell the Non Isolated version of the Orion-TR which only needs a single negative connection. Accordingly, our wiring kits are supplied with only one negative cable and the instructions are appropriate for this set up. If you buy a Victron Orion-TR from another supplier it may be the isolated version in which case you should speak to us about it before ordering our wiring kit.
