Review: DAV-TEC

I’ve mentioned @Dav-Tec on other threads, but haven’t actually done a proper review, so I thought it was about time.

I first came across @Dav-Tec (Chris) on this forum…. I’d bought myself a custom steering wheel as an upgrade to the crappy plastic thing and needed it coding with VCDS. Chris offered to help with the coding and the fitting of the extra wires (that I knew nothing about at that stage) I needed for the MFSW to work properly on my Trendline T6. Chris is very professional, efficient and particular about his work which is something I liked. He coded everything to work perfectly and also activated the big speedo feature that I couldn’t get before.

Since then I’ve been back to Chris for him to install the Autowatch Ghost 2 Immobiliser as he’s an authorised Installer and TASSA approved. Again, very pleased with his work.

Chris is an Electrical and Automation Engineer by trade and a VAG nut…. to say he is passionate about what he does would be an understatement! He’s got a very trick VW Caddy…. check out that_honey_caddy on Instagram!

So, if you are on Instagram, please take a look at some of his work dav_tec1 as I can highly recommend him. If you’re not on Instagram, maybe he can start his own thread and start to put up what he specialises in….

Mate really appreciate that review. It's really nice to hear cheers Matt

Just had my t6 remapped and head unit unlock by Chris at Dav Tec, couldn't be happier. My van is really quite heavy due to not using lightweight ply for the kitchen, but the difference in power is really noticeable! much more responsive, doesn't need to rev out as much on overtaking, more than happy with the result! Chris was professional, helpful and had all the time in the world to explain every step of the job. Even spending the time to remap again with slightly different settings because he wasn't quite satisfied with the results and thought it could be better across the power curve.

I'll definitely be back for more work once I work out what I'm doing next... adaptive cruise control perhaps? we will see!

Thanks Chris,

Fantastic mate. Thanks for your review. Truly appreciated

Needed a few bits doing to my van recently such as enabling front and rear fade on the headunit and some other adjustments to avoid bulb out warnings and such like. Chris @Dav-Tec was the guy who did this for me and I thought I'd leave a review to let others know he is a very knowledgeable and trustworthy guy. He has a very good way of explaining what he's doing (dumbing in down so to speak) to help you understand what he's doing. I'm glad to have someone like this close by who can properly understand what he's doing with your vehicle. Will be back to Chris straight ways if/when I need to.

Cheers Chris.

Cheers Gary. Still shocked at how good.your van sounds

Had my t6.1 booked in with Chris at Dav-tec over the weekend for a much needed security upgrade.
After reading reviews on the forum, with the terms professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy regularly being used, i can only echo those thoughts. From the initial phone conversation about the ghost immobiliser, metatrak s5 vts tracker and oem alarm monitoring integration ( wasn't aware of this option until speaking with Chris) to explaining what work was involved in the install, and then taking the time to go through the setup and explaining the " how to's " in a simplified way. It made me feel nothing but confident in the work he does.
Will definitely be back for more work in the near future.
Thanks Chris.

Phil.

Great reviews! We need a @Dav-Tec down south…..no nonsense, explains things, does the right thing by the customer!

Thank you Phil for your kind words. The feedback really is very much appreciated.

Hello all you transporters out there, I booked my 20 plate T6.1 van (under conversion) in with DAV-TEC to have a reversing camera supplied and fitted on Saturday past (27th Nov 2021). It was the first one he had done on a T6.1 and what a cracking job he has made of it. Chris(DAVE-TEC) coded the camera in to function on the existing factory fitted screen in the dash. The camera is almost un-noticeable and you wouldn't know it was there unless you knew where to look. The quality of the rear view image is superb. It also incorporates a 'Ghost' image on the screen of the vehicle shape making use of the front and rear parking sensors. Dave-Tec proved to me beyond any doubt that they have the 'up to date' technology and know how to undertake the task at what I feel was a very reasonable cost. My journey from home to their location was about a 1hr 15min drive and was well worth the journey given the end result.
Thank you DAV-TEC

Funny that! Chris and I were chatting about how discreet the camera is at the weekend! It’s way more discreet than my OEM

Big shout out for Dav-tec (Chris) who today fitted and coded my MFSW along with prep work for the W8 courtesy light upgrade and changing the speedo to big MPH. As others have said Chris knows his stuff and it was great to watch him work and pick up a few tips. Everything works great and his pricing is very fair to say the least.
Highly recommended and well worth the hour and half travelling time.

Cheers buddy glad your happy. Wheel is looking spot on pal. Gorgeous colour btw

Excited, I am booked in for the 17th to have a reverse cam fitted! Looks great BTW

Went to see Chris @Dav-Tec yesterday, for what was originally just going to be a reverse cam install……however after a few days dialogue before the appointment, turned out to be so much more!

Chris installed a rear camera, and also replaced my clunky old Kenwood DNX516DABS with a VERY nice looking Pioneer SPH-EVO64DAB, as well as attaching a wireless charging pad on the dash.

An absolute top quality job from a really nice guy! Thanks for working late into the evening to get this all done Chris!

Also for anyone considering a new ICE head unit, you should definitely consider this Pioneer. Wireless CarPlay, built in Alexa and much more.

No worries buddy glad your happy. That Headunit for the money is 9ne of the best on the market at the minute in my opinion.

@Super-G @Dav-Tec. So how well does the Pioneer unit integrate with the car? I'm thinking of phone (control and MFD information) as well as parking sensors. I've been looking to replace the OEM Composition Colour unit in my 2018 T6 Highline but ever since I made the decision, there hasn't been any Kenwood 8019s or 8020s available which others say are the reference points. Also, how many inputs are there (USB or card slot)?
